Sure thing. I play 3D games all the time.Espio 1919 wrote:Man, I'm glad I didn't turn into a total fanboy with the Sonic series like those nutjobs. Speaking from the community here: we're not all like that, most accept the fact that the 3D games are declining, but they are still found to be enjoyable to a degree.
I play FPSs, racing, 3d fighting, and a bunch of other stuff. Heck Jet Grind Radio is one of my all-time favorites and it's 3D.
3D platformers aren't my thing though. My wife won't even play them because they make her dizzy.

Go Racket Boy, dish out that fanboy spanking!
I too am seriously frustrated by these fanboys. Being at heart a Nintendo gamer I get even more frustrated with the Nintendo fanboys. They are just the worst.
A few months back Nintendo did their Australian wide tour to push the new Pokemon games etc. I'm not much of a Pokemon fan(didn't stop me from snagging a free D/P guide
) but I attended because..well why wouldn't I? Man I gotta say it, these kids really annoy me. I felt so angry listening to them ignorantly talk about the stuff I grew up with. I just wanted to sit them all down and school them! It almost makes me hate being a assosiated in the same fan based group as them and thats the worst part.

Nope, I'm with you on that one.The Apprentice wrote:I think I'm the odd man out on this issue, my three favorite sonic games:
1. Sonic 3D Blast
2. Sonic Adventure 2
3. Sonic the Hedgehog 3
Sonic 1 isn't on my list just because 2 and 3 are 100 times better...
Sonic 2 though drops off my list real fast, I don't know why, just don't like it. 3+K is so much more fun in my book. in 2 the ability to play as tales just feels like an after thought... where as in 3+K, the levels are designed to be made oppurtune by each character in their own way. Certain areas are only accesible by certain characters... it made for interesting replay value 3 different times.
and Super Tails ROCKS
as for your other two, I won't go into detail with why I like them a lot. But I really enjoyed the two of them, especially the soundtrack for Sonic 3D Blast on the Saturn.
I love Sonic 2. But part of it may be because I played it so much since it came with my Genesis.

Well you know, a lot of those raving fanboys are kids. Of course, they're immature. We all were at some point. Young people have to find their little clicks and niches in life, and have a hard time accepting people who are different from them. We all remember how things were in high school. God, just look at the extreme flaming and heated arguments kids have over music today. It's like they define their entire being by what they listen to. Everytime I hear some so-called "metalhead" bash anybody who listen to nu-metal or pop, I have to laugh at the absurdity of it. I love underground metal, but I could just as easily make fun of it in a lot of ways. Yes, I find most radio friendly, mainstream music to be really pathetic, but it's silly to go and tell someone they are a loser simply because of what they listen to. I know some people who are extremely kind and intelligent, and yet my tastes differ from theirs in every possible way. It would be easy for me to think they are stupid or weird for not liking the stuff I do, but I'm smarter than that.
Eventually, most people grow out of that stuff. Unfortunately, not EVERYONE does.
And by the way, I did enjoy Sonic 3-d as well as Sonic Spinball. I think Sonic 3&Knuckles(which is really one whole game)was Sonic at its best(a decision pending further examination whenever I finally get to play Sonic CD). It just seemed so big and epic. Chasing Robotnick in space as Super Sonic was a real gaming moment for me.
I will say though that no Sonic game will EVER have the kind of magic the original did simply because it was the first. It really redefined platform gaming and made Mario, at least for a little while, look like a chump. You still don't see any modern platform game today that feels like a Sonic game. Most every platformer today builds off Mario, and maybe adds some weapons to it. Speedy platforming is still very much a Sonic thing with only Nights offering a similar experience, if that game even counts.

Sure, I was immature, but I never went spouting off to people online.
I guess I didn't go online until I was about 16, but still....

Yeah, I understand what you mean. If you really think about it, the internet really seems to be a haven for negativity. It seems like a LOT of people just go online to complain about stuff these days, and people are a lot bolder when talking to strangers on the internet than they are with the people they deal with in real life. Just my observations.racketboy wrote:Sure, I was immature, but I never went spouting off to people online.
