console connections management
Hi guys. I searched for this and found nothing so, if anyone already talk about this, sorry.
Anyway, here's my problem. Right now I have 5 consoles and just one tv to plug em all. I have an Xbox 360 through a composite cable, a Dreamcast through RF (I know it sucks, I'm looking for a scart cable...) and the only scart entry in my tv is divided between my PS2 and Saturn, which means if I have the PS2 plugged in and want to play some Saturn I have to switch the cables. I also have a N64 but it's unplugged at the moment, since I rarely play on it.
So, since this setup is far from perfect, and there's always more consoles on the way, what I want to know is how do you guys, who also have lots of consoles and just one tv, manage to keep em all plugged in.

Well in my case I got all my console with composite cables you know the red, white, yellow cables (sorry bad english) And got an av selector. I bought them at wal mart its an RCA brand you can have 4 systems in one box. I got3 of those boxes and my 360 and wii are with component directly to the tv and the playstation 3 is connected directly to the tv with hdmi. I just took photos of my game room gona post them later on in the game room section and you can see how everything is set up so you can get an idea.

Lesse...
main TV:
I have a combination PS2-Xbox-Nintendo-type Svid cable that I have for the SNES and PS2. Wii is connected via component cables.
Other TV:
GameCube on Component. N64, Dreamcast, Genesis, MasterSystem, NES, TG-16 on a composite video switcher. The hard part is juggling the power bricks!

What's the most you'd be looking to spend?
You could try finding a decent AV receiver from a local pawn shop...

It really depends on it's age, how many inputs it has, and all that type of stuff. You could probably find a reasonable one in a pawn shop for $75-$100. Maybe less, maybe more.NebachadnezzaR wrote:I finished my studies this year and I should start working soon, so I'll be able to spend some money on it. How much does a regular av receiver cost?
Anyway, thank you all for the suggestions. Guess I'm going to try either an av selector or receiver.

In the meantime I remembered something. I already have 2 consoles with a scart cable (although I also have a composite cable for the ps2 I need the scart one to play imports. I'm in Europe, BTW) and as I said before, I plan on getting another to improve the quality of my Dreamcast. Is there any solution to connect 3 scarts to a tv that only has 1 slot?
Yes you can get one of those scart switch things. You plug that into your TV's scart connection and that itself has 3 (or more depening on the switch) scart connections which you can plug your consoles scart connections to.NebachadnezzaR wrote:In the meantime I remembered something. I have two 5 input audio/video selectors hooked into the two composite inputs on my tv with all of the audio going to a stereo. I have Genesis/Segacd/32x, Saturn, Dreamcast, 3DO, Jaguar, NES, SNES, N64, PS2, and 360 all going to the same TV!! if only it was HD
The cool thing is that the channel selectors run on their own power source, so they auto select what ever input is getting a signal, so i just got to turn on my 3do and it autimatically boots up .
Here's the one I use. It's less quite a bit less than $50.
