DVD piracy, how do they do it?

How come the file will be 50GB when it fits a 4.7 GB dvd?
this is very confusing, I wish for cartridge movies.
Fast, no loading, reliable, no scratches, they can be as small as SD cards

DVDs are actually compressed with MPEG-2, much like MP3s are compressed with MPEG-3. If you decompress the whole thing you can expect about a 10x increase in size. But there's no reason to do that, you don't gain any quality when you convert from lossy to lossless formats.

If you want to add subtitles, and legitimately own the film, why not torrent it pre-made? If the language is fairly common, I'd suggest going that route if it's only one film.
