Many arcade game units used FM Synth, but not many home games, in part because only the Famicom Disk System, Japanese Sega Mark III (or one of the Master System variants), and the Genesis used it.
I'd like to know what your favorite Arcade and Genesis FM Synth tracks are. I, for one, really like the outdoor music in Rastan (Saga) in the arcade.
Best FM synth in games (arcade or console)
Jesper Kyd's Sub-Terrania. Highest quality music (at least on Genesis), I know of.

I still listen to this game and TJ+E today... actually, it's about time I listen to them again today.

A bit off topic
I don't think Amigas use FM synth, but I just made a reply to a comment on the Amiga emulator guide I wrote pointing to an excellent resource of Amiga tunes. If you're into game music, you should definitively check some out and see if you like the style.

Recently, I've been loving my Audigy card and it's EAX features. Genesis really needed some reverb, and EAX can enhance it's music big time.lordofduct wrote:oh yeah... most definitely!Mozgus wrote:Jesper Kyd's Sub-Terrania. Highest quality music (at least on Genesis), I know of.
