i have had quite a bit of experience in the games. the best versions i have personally played are 2, 3,Monster rancher advanced series, and my personal favorite was monster rancher battle card for the GBC. most of the series is rather slow and might be hard to get into it. but once you start to figure out everything it becomes a fun game. if you like pet sims with battles you should like Monster rancher.

I used to play the first one a lot as a kid. You'll need patience and a guide but once you get out into the dungeon/world thing it gets pretty cool.

Also if you put the Terminator 2 soundtrack in you get a liquid metal T-1000 monster. Gnarly.
