I would open your PS1 up and clean the reset button of dust, dirt, etc. I would then have look around for cold solders, loose connections ,etc.

When it comes to random restarting it is generally PSU related (Not talking about the PS1, just about computers in general).

Is it squished into a tiny entertainment center and left on for hours or days at a time?

If so, then that's your problem.

what do you suggest I do?
Thinking about it, it is unlikely it is an issue with heat; more likely to be a dry joint. When the board heats a bit, if you have dry joints, then contacts might stop connecting somewhere on the board, and causing a reset. Remove the motherboard, look to see if there are dry joints you can see, and resolder; if not, get a new PS1 or PSone console, they cost next to nothing to buy these days. Old boards can get dry joints after a while.

Maybe laser is a little off. Polishing those old game discs might help.

Its a really simple task of unscrewing obvious screws, it is the most simple console to take apart, nothing is snapped shut, etc.

A phillips head screw driver is all you will need.

I assume you don't have a soldering iron or any skills? Perhaps it might be best to cut your losses and get another PS1. You can get PS1s in box for a fraction of the cost of a soldering iron kit.

check the power board for bad capacitors or anything that looks fried or toasted. you can also try reseating the PSU connector
