My psone problems?

Post by CDink »

In the middle of gaming sometimes it randomly restarts...now take note a couple weeks ago when I played through MGS1 it didn't do this once, but it seems anytime I'm playing an RPG it does this...I'm not sure if it's overheating or something..I usually don't play for more than an hour at a time. any way to fix this because my ps2 has trouble reading specifically Final Fantasy VIII(which I'm trying to play) and I don't want to keep losing data by random restarts on my psone.

Just a shot in the dark here but are you by any chance pressing start, select, L1, L2, R1, and R2 all at the same time? That does a soft reset.

Also it could be a problem with your game? Considering theres weird things going on with this game in both your ps1 and ps2.

Does your power button not feel as solid as it did before? We're talking about the more slimmed down model, right? Cause mine does that sometimes if you don't press the power button hard enough. It'll get stuck in this weird diagonal position and the game will start spazing out.
Systems: SNES, PS1, GBA SP, Gamecube, DS Lite, Wii, PS3 (Fully Backwards Compatible), Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, Sega Genesis, a Sega CD, and a Sega Saturn.

Very sorry, misleading abbreviation..it's the original Playstation, not the slim one. Could I be overheating it? I don't think the power or reset buttons are in a different place...but I may press em both in a lot see if they get stuck or wedged sometimes.

I'd say it' either a faulty/loose reset or power switch; or overheathing chips.

You could try taking off the cover and point a fan at it, then stick down the lid close button and see if it behaves while playing. If so then that would point to overheating.
