Please Stop Making Games
Re: Please Stop Making Games
Prioritize guys. It's better to spend 80 hours with one kickass game than to spend 4 hours each on a couple dozen games you never really get into. If the worst that happens is that you never get to play, let's say Mass Effect 2, because you're really into Dragon Age, that's not really so bad is it?
We are prepared to live in the plain and die in the plain!
Re: Please Stop Making Games
Yes that's what we need, more consolidation so that new, creative games don't get half a chance! *gazes into his crystal ball* the future will have (virtual) shelves brimming with annual iterations of Activision/Bioware/EA Sports games and little else
Anyway I spend more time "researching" games and listening to their music than actually playing them. But then comes a little gem like Darksiders that I can't put down.

Re: Please Stop Making Games
You know everyone complains when their favorite band, artist whatever gets well known and popular. It's the same thing here
Gaming was easier back when it was a niche thing that people still didn't want to admit they did. There were fewer games per year, fewer QUALITY games. Any gamer you talked to was playing the exact same game you were. And those games got finished, unless they were really hard, in which you AND your friends mostly likely never finished it and could complain together about how hard it was(Battletoads anyone?)
Better days, damn I miss when cartridges were the dominant format too. Now I sound like an old man

Re: Please Stop Making Games
I don't want to see the industry slow down or hold back on creating new and exciting games, just because I can't personally keep up. Hell, I'd need them to stop making games for ten years just to play all the already released titles I'm interested in!
I've resigned to the fact I'm older now, and just can't keep up step-by-step with new releases. I play what I can of what interests me the most, whether it be something new or a retro goodie.

also, back in the day there was not such a huge retro gaming. I mean before the SNES there was just NES. Now there is Gamecube, N64, Snes, AND Nes and thats only Nintendo. Not to mention back then emulation was not possible, you had to own the console AND the cartridge. Now you can get a psx games downloaded to your ps3, compatibility is a main thing meaning even more games.Gamerforlife wrote:You know everyone complains when their favorite band, artist whatever gets well known and popular. I guess consider me a retro gamer since birth, I've been playing Atari since I could hold a controller.

a conversation a few nights ago:
me: "hey check this out, i got this super nintendo game."
my gf: "why don't you play some of the games you have? you seem to have a lot lying around for a gamer."
me: "i'm not really a gamer, more of a game enthusiast."

And Peggle is the current main game on your Xbox gamer card signature. hehehe. I'm kind of the same way. I track down and collect a lot of different kinds of games, but I most often play casual kinds of games that I can get in a good game of on a 30 minute bus ride to work.aaron wrote:a conversation a few nights ago:

hahaha yeah. the 360 is at her place so she plays it all the time. typically it's what we play when i'm over there, that or her snes. if netflix showed up on mygamercard that'd be on there more than peggle, though.J T wrote:And Peggle is the current main game on your Xbox gamer card signature. hehehe.
