One of things that made the original OVA Tenchi Muyo interesting, and I think I mentioned this already, was that it had some unusual, sexual humor. This entire aspect of the show I think was removed from the cartoon network airings for understandable reasons. The show is actually more mature than many people realize
durkada wrote:Also agreed. South Park is one of those shows that certainly seems to get better with age. As soon as they began to combine their shocks and toilet humor with social commentary, it got really good. And, yeah, the Fun With Weapons episode surely ranks as one of their best. What was cool about that episode was that, for the most part, they were able to get alot of laughs without shocks, without toilet humor, and without a great deal of social satire. Of course, I almost choked on the tears when the throwing star went in Butter's eye.
Well now, I just HAVE to post a link to that clip for people who haven't seen it. Very funny, poor Butters, he always has a rough time on that show. I actually find his professor chaos character very entertaining. Anyway, here it is:

I do remember watching Tenchi, that when they censor any kind of alcohol reference like Sake, just change it to tea, I do remember they got like some kind of tongue-in-cheek thing when Ryoko was drinking at school, I think it was Sasami who said this, but she said something like "Ryoko, you can't drink THAT kind of tea at school"

I think I remember seeing a few episodes of Home Movies. It had a certain charm, but I wouldn't say I loved it. It's definitely kind of a niche show I think

I hear some people praise Metalocalypse. Haven't checked it out myself, which is odd because I do kind of like metal. Not the the radio and MTV variety though(I love bands like Dark Tranquillity, Iced Earth, Nightwish, Eternal Tears of Sorrow, Children of Bodom, Dragon Force, etc)

Justice League was indeed awesome, The Cadmus arc was brilliant, Star Crossed was a fantastic movie animated or otherwise and I just really love the voice actors they got(Amy Acker as Huntress, awesome). Plus, I just love all the stuff they got away with on a kids show. There were implied swear words, quite a few sexual references and some of the subject material was certainly more interesting and relevant to an older audience. Also, I'm not even the biggest DC comics geek and yet I'm amazed at the number of comic book references they worked into the shows. This was show made by comic book geeks FOR comic book geeks
If you love those metal bands Metalocalypse is for you. There is a restaurant called Dimmu Burger.

For some good Dragon Force parody, check out Swisklok (sp?) and DethTroll for some Children of Bodom goodness. In Dethtroll they raise an ancient giant troll from lake Bodom I think. Havn't seen the episode in a while. There were a bunch of eps up on youtube and there should be some on the adult swim fix.

Oh man, I forgot about this show. Thanks for reminding me. I love the cop (gromus or something? can't remember his name) and candle jack? I think I'm going to have to go dig through my dvds to find it.

That's really just a hint of some of the more adult stuff on that show. I'll try and be vague here as to not offend anyone, and I haven't seen the show in some time so my memory may be a bit fuzzy on some of this stuff.

There was a funny scene in one episode where Washu is running tests on Tenchi and needs a certain kind of "sample". She offers to help him deliver that sample

There was also an early episode where Ayeka tortures Ryoko and something happens indicating that Ryoko enjoyed it.

I remember a funny scene too where Ryoko wants Tenchi's sword and he interprets that the wrong way. I think he says something like, "no, it's mine!"and her response was, "no not that!"

There was some nudity in the show too.

God, I loved Ryoko. She was fun

They do this with other shows too. Dragonball had some naughty stuff that has been edited out for American tv, and I think DBZ was originally a far more violent show.

Let's fighting love!

LOL

Did you like the nice nod to Street Fighter's Ryu in that scene? Almost as cool as when Deadpool knocked out Kitty Pryde with a Dragon Punch in his original comic series, IN FRONT OF WOLVERINE. LOL

I think this episode is very similar to the hilarious World of Warcraft episode they did

I have'nt seen the WoW episode yet

I have no idea anymore of when South Park is shown here in the UK. Only got to watch the "protect my balls" episode because MS put that up for download on the 360 marketplace!

I guess on the plus side I have so many seasons of South Park to watch when I get a hold of them!

I think you can find it on youtube, but I believe the episode has been split into three parts and uploaded by different people so as to avoid getting in trouble for copyright infringement. You would have to search for part 1,part 2 and part 3.

I'll get hold of it eventually. I still have a lot on my plate gaming wise and film wise.
