Dear me in 1987,
When you reach 8th grade don't feel like you are "too old" to have an almost complete collection of Star Wars and GI Joe toys. This means don't give them away to the younger kids in the neighborhood... Giving them away would be a nice gesture, but in the mid to late 90's all of those toys will be worth enough to pay back your student loans (yes, no matter how you feel about college now, you will go and graduate) or enough for a down payment on a nice house... or just keep them.

Also, no matter what I girl says about your game and comic collection - keep them. Trust me it's too hard to replace them for a chick... remember "there are always other fish in the sea," but comics and game are only printed for a limited time!

Dear Kevin Circa 1999,

Give this letter to Mom.

Dear Mom Circa 1999,

Please play the enclosed Videotape as soon as possible, follow all instructions on said tape and have your mind blown. Second, allow your son to leave the house on a regular basis and form some sort of friend-like bonds with other people his age early on to prevent the horrific circumstances in the video from unfolding. Third, computers, BUY ONE, get online, invest in eBay.com, Amazon.com, Google.com and profit madly. Don't try to sell your house in 2006, stay in NJ for at least four more years, you'll honestly thank me later.

Sincerely,

Future Kevin Circa 2010

P.S.-When I ask for you to loan me five extra dollars to buy that Sealed SNES console at the flea market in 2004 that was only $25 and had all those sealed games like Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario Kart, Yoshi's Island, Final Fantasy III, Street Fighter II, Pilotwings and more DO IT! I stil;l haven't forgiven you for that to this day.

Oh, and get a job before 2009, trust me you'll thank me later.
My Consoles:
Genesis - Nomad - SegaCD - GameGear - Sega Saturn - Dreamcast - NES - SNES - N64 - Gamecube - Wii - Playstation - PSone & LCD - PS2 - PS3 - Xbox - 3DS

note to past-self (ca. 1993-94)

if you work "just a little bit harder"; you will be able to afford that Commodore 65;
I know it's "a lot" of money, but come on'; work hard for a couple of weeks and get the $400 to buy it

I know you're 15-16 years old; but come on... you live on a farm. work dammit, WORK!

Hey DGM
You're going to think it can't get any worse, it can.
You're going to think it'll never be better, it will.

P.S
Keep all the boxes/manuals for your video games.

Dear Andrew,

Dont sell any of your games, buy Apple stock, workout more, and never be afraid to ask out a girl you like!

That's actually a really cool message. Kind of sums up what it means to get older real nicely.

Sounds like Back to the Future, anyway, I would have given myself stock tips, and started lifting weights in high school.
