Meh, doesn't look like anything special. Just 'cos it says "Sega" doesn't mean that it's at all the same people designing the game, right?
Anyway, what made me laugh was, while watching the preview for it on Gametrailers, some of the comments were ridiculous; kids these days. Several people were saying how the 2d Sonics all sucked and only the new, 3d Sonics are good at all. AMG. Are you kidding me? Today's Sonic is a whored-out, wretched creature compared to the glory days. Everywhere Sega can stamp the name Sonic for a penny, they've done it.

I'd really like to see more than three seconds of gameplay footage.

Re: Project Needlemouse (Sonic 4) Thoughts, opinions
While I was hoping for this for years I'm not so excited after the trailer.
1) I really don't like the 2D gameplay 3D graphics with sonic. It works well with mario cause he looks better when he is 3D than when he is 2D (round character and all
), but sonic looks horrible. specially with the huge head. he looks more "edgy" as an 2D sprite and I'd love to see an HD version of him.
2) really the iphone as a platform? So we won't be getting a tight platformer (which is impossible to do without a good controller) just so sega can put it in the stupid app store.
3) they still didn't change the name to dr robotnick. eggman sounds stupid. He builds robots, which one makes more sense?
4) episodic. I really doubt sega is saying the truth about making each episode as long as a mega drive sonic title. It will probably be half of that.

Nowhere has the iPhone been announced as a platform.ZeroAX wrote:2) really the iphone as a platform? So we won't be getting a tight platformer (which is impossible to do without a good controller) just so sega can put it in the stupid app store.

Well, Sega already released the original Sonic on iPhone. In fact they have a whole app store for Genesis games. It's not a big leap to assume that the yet-to-be-announced console is the iPhone. They just have to wait for approval from Apple.

Where's the cartoony wheel running animation? He looked weird in the trailer. The addition of a homing attack is kind of a downer too, although it wasn't too bad in sonic megamix.
I was really hoping they'd use the sprites from sonic 3&K like capcom did with megaman 9, and make this feel like a true genesis sequel. Reusing badniks is kind of lame as well, if they made the game properly retro they wouldn't need to use old enemies and levels to give it that feel.
The downloadable aspect is a downer as well. Hopefully the ??? means there will be some sort of retail release as well. The episodic thing makes me think they'll release 3 level packs or something, then release them all on disc for 19.99.
Hmm. . . Standard Def Wii version or Crappy D-pad Xbox version?

I'm not certain I understand the concern. It's a summation of the plots of the first four Sonic games. And the story is horrible because the story was horrible in those games; it was just an excuse for Sonic to go from one end of the level to the other.

Gotta say, it's starting to get to me how everybody has already jumped onto the Sonic 4 hatewagon.
Am I skeptical? Oh, absolutely. But I'm still going to give it a chance. One of the concerns a lot of people have cited is that it's not Sonic 4, but Sonic 4: Episode 1. As if Episodic gaming somehow makes it less of a game.
Honestly, I'm kinda relieved that it is episodic. If the first episode sucks, at least I will have only lost a couple of bucks instead of the $20-30 it would probably sell for if all the episodes were packaged together. Plus, it raises my hopes that once they finish all the episodes, they might bundle all of them together for a physical release a la Siren: New Translation.

We've all been burned too many times by Sonic in the past decade.the7k wrote:Gotta say, it's starting to get to me how everybody has already jumped onto the Sonic 4 hatewagon.
