Top 10 retro Multiplayer games (any system) for live event?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Simpsons Arcade and the TMNT games are great as well!
Seems like that would be kind of hard to find a winner though. You'd have to play singleplayer and then get point totals.

If you know someone who owns the original or has a modded psx you should put Parappa the Rapper in the tourney. Game is hard as hell but funny at the same time. Good times to be had by all whenever that game is played.

Right, Mariokart SNES and Track and Field ARCADE are in the list with SF2 as a possible.

You're all listing great 2-player games but remember they have to be competitive and easily put into a tournament/knock out format.

I'm toying with the idea of hosting a monthly Retro game competition in a bar in London. We'll have some DJs and drinks and play some sort of knockout tournament. So far I've got a couple of games that I think would suit the event. What else do you think would be good?

01. Sensible Soccer (Megadrive)
02. Saturn Bomberman (Saturn)
03. Super Tennis (SNES)

Any suggestions?
Did you ever set up your event?

Way to dig up an 8 month old thread.

While it's at the top, might as well add some more classics to the list:

If you've got an N64, you've got to have Battletanx. Mario64, Dr. Mario, Smash Brothers, and GoldenEye are some other favorites.

As for the Gamecube: MarioKart Double Dash, Super Monkey Ball 1 & 2, and Super Smash Brothers.

the soundtrack was awesome the gameplay was awesomeo and the engine at the time was just superb. and four player deathmatch or team match or whatever match was just exciting.

Sensible Soccer

Considering it is in London, that is a very good one (if you ever get it started). But do try to get it running with joysticks in an Amiga rather than with pads on a Megadrive :P

(Ok, slightly fanboyish comment right there).
