The downside to playing obscure games on retro systems...

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

........what pisses me off is that i come to read a topic where it might be really cool and i sit here and read for a little over 20 minutes of what everyone has stated and had to ask myself," what is the topic again?" lol. It really does not make me mad. Some of us use guides and some of us dont. The point is, gamers differ from one another. For some of us the passion never fades but only grows to new hieghts, always ready for the challenge, and rapidly buying up all the good old video game real estates. For some gamers its not that it never dies, but it never grows. They will always be fond of it but they do not want to go through the hassles they use to when they were little kids. As for some of the games being IMPOSSIBLE to complete as gamerforlife said, bullshit(i do not mean to offend you with this statement, this is simply how i communicate so just know i respect you as a fellow gamer). Those faqs were made by someone, those strategy guides were made by some people. If someone else can do it, so can you. For some reason in my eyes, games now are no as hard as the retro ones. Recycling of the same formula. Save for a few that are just really awesomeo. The newer games are just easier because of all the hard games i have played. Albeit some games are only hard because they have fucked up controls or some other thing you can not control. I am still young but i can honestly say that i will never stop setting aside time to play my games. Never. This is just me but i take my gaming seriously because like most of us i was into games when they were for nerds and not cool. A time when i use to let kids borrow games and the kids at the school would be like, "you guys play video games? what losers". Well fuck them anyhow because they think gta is the best fucking game ever and now its so cool to be a gamer but they can go crash and flip off a cliff for all i care. In other words, I demand more out of my gaming self. Well i am going to play omikron i will talk to you guys on the flipside.

No offense JJJ, but FF12 does give you hints where to find each mark for the hunts. FAQ not required for that. There's info you can access in your inventory screen under hunts I believe. Usually, the client will tell you where to find your prey too. It's really the optional stuff in FF12 that necessitate a faq, like getting that stupid Zodiac Spear, but not the main game

Actually tHePhAnTom!??!, faqs for Final Fanasy games are usually made up of either compiling info from forums, where many players will report some of the weird and random stuff they encounter, or the faq writer will actually get info from an official strategy guide. Sometimes both, and those strategy guides are usually getting info right from the company that made the game. That's why I say it is near impossible for one, single gamer to figure out how to do and acquire everything in a Final Fantasy game on his/her own.

Most hardcore FF gamers know they're going to need a guide or faq to do everything. Usually, they'll use one on their second playthrough.

true true the game developers themselves how licensed contracts with strategy guide publishers. But believe you me there are some people out there (the asian side of the world) that do the excellent other people can not do. anyhow thanks for reminding me that strategy guids are bullshit. but hey they go for a lot of money in canada. i think, shit i can not remember.

Well, it's plausible that there are some people who can figure out EVERYTHING in a Final Fantasy game on their own, but they probably have serious issues and need to go outside once in a while, not to mention bathe

Okay, I'm just joking.........except, not really.

I only use walk throughs for when I want to find secrets or if I'm just so damn frustrated that it isn't fun anymore. If I can't find a walk-through, I'll just leave the game alone for awhile and coming back to it later.

Super Hydlide for the Genesis....

I broke down and looked for a guide. Then kept looking. Read a few different ways to beat the final boss. Some of the guides obviously did not test their strategy, because there is only one way to beat the final boss. Without spoiling anything, the way to beat it made an already bad game, absolutely one of the worst games ever.

If someone figured out how to beat that game by trial and error, they have more patience then I will ever know...

This game is amazingly epic. The music is so rad that after playing it for 20 minutes it may be the only thing to save you from jumping out a window. The hero in this game is such a wuss that yoda from yoda stories could kick his ass just by thumping him with a stick. It's no wonder that theres little guidance for this game that has taken the lives of so many gamers.
