The pictures in the concept art section seem to imply a complete remake of green hill, even the same badniks :S

The press release and intro on the official site suggest we're going to see a lot of old favorites.

There are two ways this could be made amazing. Way number one is if there was a menu option to have all references to Eggman replaced with Robotnik. The second is if the mystery platform the game will be on turns out to be an older Sega console.

That would be nice to see Sega make the game for the Dreamcast.......however Sega claims its only a Downloadable game.

So what is the ??? console?

Any guessses?

If I were to guess, I could see it coming to PlaySega Services on the PC, the iPhone, the iTouch and Apple's new iPad.

I dont think its coming to the new online ONLIVE device though.

What about the possibility of it being on Steam? I mean, the only major platform that's missing is the PC(I don't consider the iPhone a major platform), and the biggest and most successful download distribution and gaming network found on the PC would be Steam, so...why not?

Wasn't his name always Eggman? I'd rather they use the real name, personally.

Anyway, if they do actually release it on a Sega console such as Dreamcast or Mega Drive, I will be first in line to buy it.

In Japan, he was always eggman, in the US and Europe, he was Robotnik. Both were right, because Sega of Japan left it up to Sega of America to adjust the games story to be more fitting for a western audience. Recently, he's been retconned as being known as Dr. "Eggman" Robotnik in the west. I find it wierd that Robotnik prefers to use the Eggman name to describe himself though :S

That, and Dr. Eggmans Mean Bean Machine just doesnt have the same ring to it XD

The name in Europe and the U.S. was Dr. Ivo Robotnik, to sound more Eastern European (you know, U.S.S.R. = Evil, that kind of groove :P).
