What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

No. His victims are never in on it-- that's the whole point of Bruno and his previous works, Borat and Da Ali G show. The film "Ali G: Indahouse" broke from this format, and wasn't that great, but I think they probably had to do that because Ali G was already well known prior to making that film.

I know that in Borat, Pamela Anderson was in on the joke. If she hadn't been, Sacha Baron Cohen probably would have been shot.

Some people were actors-- like the boyfriend, the Mexican workers, and his assistant Lutz, but mostly only the people who need to be in on the joke are. After Borat came out, several people sued because they thought that the releases they signed were misleading (and they probably were), but I think they lost. I'm sure the same thing happened with Bruno.

Hate to break it to you, most of the people in Borat are actors.
That is what really disappointed me about it. I thought its a bunch of actual people and real reactions, but most of it is all planned. Probably the same with Bruno.

I don't know who told you that, but he's incorrect. The people in the village that was supposed to be Borat's hometown were actors, and the guy traveling with him was an actor, but no, most people in the film were not actors.*

Haven't you ever seen "Da Ali G Show"? In it, he interviews major world leaders-- not actors.

*Actually, not that I think about it, they did hire a whole lot of people in the village. Number-wise, it might actually work out that most people in the movie were actors just due to that. However, that's pretty misleading, as he is only in his village for about five minutes.

The large crowds aren't actors, but as soon as one of his personalities is in a one on one interview, or in a room of four or less people, they are actors or the bit is loosely scripted. The illusion of it being real is what makes it funny, and sell tickets. Surely you know the entire dinner scene with the hooker in Borat was scripted.

I've seen Da Ali G Show, and just like Howard Stern's Show, 75% is scripted. Including the pranks, the calls, the interviews.

I know salon isn't necessarily the most reputable source, but I think you've been reading too many urban legends.

Yes, the hooker was probably an actress, and the victims were likely given a general planned outline for the night as they would expect when shooting something for a documentary. But they weren't told to expect poop in a bag or a hooker showing up.

For what it's worth, a lot of interviews are loosely scripted before being taped or broadcast. That doesn't mean that the interviewer can't surprise the person being interviewed.

EDIT: Also, you've seen the show so it must be scripted? That doesn't make any sense.

you would be very surprised luke, i was at a screen actor's guild screening of bruno over the summer in which sasha and larry david were interviewed afterword, everything (in bruno at least) was all real, i wouldnt have believed them had they not had multiple stories about shooting the film, which were expressed very candidly, however, in bruno when they are on the jerry springer esque show, the show itself wasnt real, but the people there thought they were on a real show (a pilot episode) and all of the reactions and yelling were real

No "probably" about it. Luenell The "victims" are also in on it. You can do your own googling on that.

Totally agree with your second paragraph. 100%

You asked me if I've seen the show, I responded. I just added that the show, like Howard's show is mostly scripted.

Wait. You'll cite wikipedia as your source on this even though it states,
"Luenell was one of the few actual actors in the 2006 hit mockumentary-styled comedy film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan."

I thought almost everyone was an actor!

You can say it's all scripted all you want. WHY do you say it's scripted? Do you base this on something, or does it just "feel" scripted to you?

I mean, I'm sure Sacha Baron Cohen spent a lot of time preparing for each interview, but I don't see the basis of your claim that the responses are scripted as well.

If you want an argument, go time travel (if it is possible) and talk to Izzy.

I posted a link just showing you a main character in BORAT is an actress, nothing more. Google her for yourself if you don't think she is an actress. As for the rest of the supporting cast.

Responses, are just as scripted as the questions on television/radio shows. PR managers don't make a living selling lemonade.
