I watched Resident Evil Degeneration the other day. The blockbuster by my house is closing down and they had it for $1 so I picked it up. I enjoyed it.

Saw the movie "Slackers" last night. It's about this trio who cheated their way through college and finally were caught when the lead character fell for this girl. The problem was that another classmate has an obsession for the same girl and blackmailed them so they would help him get this girl to be his girlfriend. There were a bunch of parts where I laughed so hard. My favorite scene was the part where the obsessive dork (well played by Jason Schwartzman) gave this old lady a sponge bath in the hospital.

Kind of a juvenile movie but I don't care....I thought it was funny. Haven't laughed this hard in ages.

Bruno is hilarious. I've seen it twice now. I guess you need to be desensitized enough to not be bothered by seeing a penis swinging around on a screen and then speak to the camera, though. I wouldn't watch it with my parents.

In case no one's figured it out, I was mocking DCAllAmerican for using the world "gay" as an adjective for "bad". Basically, by taking a page from a series of PSAs, I turned "DCAllAmerican" into an adjective that is a synonym for "bad".

So... maybe next time, when something's bad, it won't be called "gay".

J/K...to be fair though "Bruno" was gay but not because it was bad, mostly because it had a lot of homosexual content.

I knew you were mocking DCAllAmerican, but I figured you were being truthful when you said you haven't seen it.

But I don't know that he was actually using "gay" as a synonym for "bad" in this case. It really is an exceedingly "gay" film. The protagonist's sexual orientation is pretty central to at least 70% of the humor in the film.

Tragically, Bruno seems more like the homosexual equivalent of a minstrel character.

And you think that's some food for though... on Queer as Folk, the character Emmett Honeycutt is a self-described "flaming homosexual" and is often seen as being stereotypical. He's also the only character on the show played by a gay actor (all the other actors are str8 in real life). But Peter Paige was also the star/director/writer/producer of the movie "Say Uncle", which should be the next movie you all see.

I don't view Bruno as a gay minstrel at all. He is certainly a ridiculous gay character intended to make those around him uncomfortable. He is an exaggerated gay stereotype, but the point of the movie isn't to make fun of homosexuality; it's to see people's reactions to his character. For instance, in the film he goes to visit a pastor in Alabama who "straightens out" (my term, not his) gay people. Whether you agree with this pastor or not, he takes a huge amount of abuse from Bruno, and far less than it took to set many people off, without batting an eye. In one of the outtakes, he visits a white supremacist. As usual, Bruno acts as flaming as he possibly can without directly saying, "I'm gay." The guy is remarkable friendly for a white supremacist. Then, Bruno's ex-boyfriend shows up, and white supremacist is on the phone calling the police almost immediately.

A gay minstrel character would exist so that straight people can laugh at gay people. Bruno treads that line a little bit, but I think it's pretty clear that straight people are his primary target.
