didnt we go through this already or was that a different poster??? anyhows the Dreamcast something for everyone. yesterday evening i picked up a jp game called psyvariar 2. its a shmup. but its a fucking badass shmup. its really intense because if you want to lvl up your character quickly you have to let the enemies projectiles graze off of you. its called the buzz system. its a really interesting innovation. sometimes you try to get so close you fuck up and die. i got mine brand new for 19.99. but dont expect to find it for that price. that game can get kind of pricey. i was also playing two fucking awesomeo and i mean fucking aweosmeo fighting games a lil while ago.
I was playing fatal fury:motw, and guilty gear x. omfw do these games show you some beautiful shit. i guarantee that you will find at least 50 games on the dreamcast that you will like or love. at least 50. ive got 80 something games and i only do not like 1 of them. and thats fucking tomb raider. the controls in that game suck major midget assssss.

Oh god, too hard! I cant say JGR because I still say it has some obvious flaws, but is a good game overall. I'd like to say Soul Calibur, but neither me nor my friends ever took it too seriously. We just never wanted to get too deep into the move sets and stuff. I think it's pretty much a perfect title, but didn't perfectly entertain myself.
I'm going to say Capcom VS SNK 2. I think it's a fucking masterpiece, and is the most epic fighting game Capcom will ever put together. It's the complete fanboy wet dream. It inserted every 2D fighting mechanic I ever enjoyed without making things obviously unbalanced.
The only gripes are unfair ones. They missed a few characters I personally love from both companies, but there are hundreds out there and you cant expect them to all be included. Some of the music tracks are annoying, but thats why you make your own custom edition.
I went over my entire collection and this title was the one that honestly gave me the largest amount of fun.

This is quite a debate topic as the Dreamcast housed a number of excellent titles. I'm not a Dreamcast buff but have played most of the systems best titles and would lay it down to my personal favourites:
House of the Dead 2
Virtua Tennis
Crazy Taxi
Soul Calibur
There are plenty of DC fanboys on this board that have a much better idea then I do. So listen to their suggestions. My list still has some must play titles on it though. Ah yes, Crazy Taxi use to be so awesome.

The only thing I can think of is the occasional camera issue in a corner or some slowdown when guns are ablazzin' around you.

For myself I would say Shenmue I / II - however it certainly isn't a game for everyone.

Yes those. First of all, mapping L to both camera-forward and spray-paint was retarded. It really is one of the weirdest control mappings in all of game history. It made spraying much more difficult, especially airborn, because when you hit spray and missed the timing, it would make the camera spasm which then threw off the rest of your timing severely.racketboy wrote:Obvious flaws? What should have been done was this:
L mapped to dash. The left side of a controller is usually associated to movement controls in games. It would have just felt more natural.
R mapped to spray. Most of us are right handed and it again would just make more sense. Also they should have used the pressure sensitivity to control the amount of spray, or maybe integrate it into the motions for fun. I always found the spray mechanic to be too damn simple.
The camera itself should have been far less troublesome, and if it were decent, we would not need a damn camera-fix button in the first place. But since we do, the Y button should have been used for it. Ideally, I would have liked the D-Pad to be used for camera controls. Tap up once fast to auto-face it, or just hold a d-pad direction for 360 degree camera positioning. The camera system badly needed some depth. From what I remember, the d-pad and X, Y, B weren't even used in this game.
Besides that, I found the soundtrack to be too limited and looped, and Cold & Rob Zombie have no fucking place in this game. Dumbest musical choice ever. I like those songs but they just don't fit here.
The stages were also re-used too often. I hated having to beat the same stage a second, third, or fourth time, and I was lucky if I even had access to a new sub-area within it.
The overall controls just frustrated me too often. Many points felt too stiff, like the jumps, and many felt too slippery, like the skating itself. Maybe I was just too spoiled with Tony Hawk 2. I think the gameplay in that was much more reliable.
Which then leads me to the absolutely limited and pointless trick system. It feels like they had something planned here but never really started.
Do I need to mention that 20 fucking second anti-graffiti screen on every boot up?
But hell, it's still a good game.
