What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

That sounds suspiciously like something that is grounds for getting smacked across the side of the face with a keyboard (a la Wanted).
Am I the only one that gets pissed when people remake existing works and try to pass them off as something new? It's not a new movie, it's an old movie that's being 'Improved' in a way for which it was never intended and I don't support that.

Smack that across your face. :?
I think it depends more on what they're doing and to what they're doing it.

Gremlins and Star Wars in 3D? Good.

Digitally adding new shit to Gremlins and Star Wars? Bad.

Digitally enhancing "The Wizard of Oz" and releasing it on Blu-Ray? Good.

Adding CGI and/or colorizing "The Wizard of Oz"? Bad.

Remaking the original 3D versions of "It Came From Outer Space", "Creature from the Black Lagoon", "The House of Wax" and the like to Real3D? Very good.

Colorizing those movies mentioned above that are B/W? Very bad... or pretty good. I mean, they colorized "Night of the Living Dead" (twice) and the early films of Ray Harryhausen and there's not a lot of booing about that.

Remaking "The Blob"? Matter of opinion.

Remaking "Gone With the Wind"? If you have a good opinion about it, ROT IN HELL!!!

Remaking "Gone with the Wind" with Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus? HOLY BUTTFUCKING SHIT, IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!!!!!!! *PUTS GUN BARREL IN MOUTH AND PULLS TRIGGER*

Remaking "The Apple" with Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus? WHO GIVES A SHIT? Granted I like "The Apple", but it's too cheesy to consider casting decent actors in the roles. And I kinda wanna see Cyrus in that outfit Bibi wore in the "Speed" number. Sweet statutory.

I don't know, while I was cool with the Harryhausen colorizations, I really didn't care for the Night of the Living Dead ones. I always preferred it in black and white. And though I've seen the remake, I still prefer the original.

As for Gremlins...I actually want a new Gremlins film, not necessarily a 3D update. I don't care much for 3D, and it really bugs my girlfriend, but I adore Gremlins...

Also, where the hell is my Critters remake?

The very laaaaaast movie I ever saw in a theater was Star Trek (the newest one).

Every time I decide to go see a movie, something comes up and then I just forget to go. Rentals are starting to be more and more my thing.

I will make it a point not to miss a new Batman or Ironman movie.

Same here, I saw The Dark Night somewhere in the area of six times when it was in theaters.

Saw AVATAR again. My theater is literally directly across a small creek from my apartment.

Turns out the creek isn't that small. I jumped short on my way back home and got a shoe full of creek water. Oh well, popcorn and drinks were a buck a pop, and I had the entire theater to myself, so I can't complain.

Oh, and AVATAR is still gorgeous and stupid.

I can't remember watching a movie that at one minute I wish would slow down to a crawl, then the next minute wish it would just get on with it. The pacing is just awful. Each time I watch AVATAR there are so many scenes where I think, "This is beautiful. Wait. What does this have to do with anything related to the movie?".

And why does S.Weaver's character always have to be smoking or drinking liquor?

And I enjoy the nods to ALIEN and TERMINATOR, but do we need so many?

And why am I asking so many questions?
