sony SUCKS
As I type this I am on hold for one of my many ps3 sales. Apparently someone found a way to bring up my info on a formatted ps3...and are making purchases on the network, and now I get the run around like its MY fault?...wtf?!? I will finish this post after I take care of this.
First edit:
You have to call your bank and have them ban your account.
"Wait you cant ban my account"
no sir...
BULLSHIT! I bet you if I was like yeah my ps3 is modded and I just stole 5,000$ in software...can you tell me how to put this aimbot on my ps3? ...they would ban my ass.
Well...now I have to call my bank AGAIN...so THEY will ban my account, cool thing is...they are also going to go after sony, and find out WHY they wont give me my money back and solve this problem due to it being on their network. WOO. Fuck sony.

Re: sony SUCKS
what you need them to do is cancel your debit card and reissue you another one
then you need to file fraud charges but they will probably say its a dispute, but you need to do one or the other...end result is you getting your money back

Done.
next edit:
Call my bank, they want me to call sony back and I tell them what happend, so I asked the bold questions *that you just stated* can I just kill my card and get a new one. Of course they said yes. Done. Now why does that piss me off? Now I have to wait for a new card in the mail due to some douch bag using my information. I hope sony bans the fucking ps3 from the network. I DO plan on filing a claim AS WELL. Nice thing about this though, now ALL ...6? of my sold ps3s can never source my information again, due to having a new card. THats the good part. But the fact that sony is telling me they cant do ANYTHING on their end when Ih ave ALL the account information is fucking weak. Its MY account, its MY information, and they got into MY account somehow...but you cant delete it if I, ME, MYSELF, tells you to? Na I think thats a load of bullshit. Fuck sony.

Re: sony SUCKS
How was it that you found out the person who stole your information had found it through one of your used systems?
It makes sense in a really scary way... I'm just wondering how you came to realize this had to be it and not through some other source?
Edit: Oh, because they are making lots of PSN purchases. The logic seems to follow - especially if that's ALL they are buying.

actually 2 ways:
Sony emails you saying thank you for your purchase on blah blah blah. What pisses me off about this even more...it happend this morning at 8am. I just now happend to check my email and see it.
Way 2, my bank emails me EVERY time my card is used someplace OTHER THAN in my hands. Over the phone, online, anything other than ME swipping that card...I get emailed about.
Edit 3: What makes this even worse...and I hope ALL of you guys remember this. My bank has gone thru this before...actually I was told about how if this is NOT cought soon enough it racks up ALOT of money from people blowing thru other peoples accounts. If you sell your ps3...do EVERYTHING possible to clean that account. Put a new harddrive in hell I dont care, but be safe. I cought this soon...but some people are not so lucky.

Re: sony SUCKS
Is it possible to remove the link between your card and account when you are preparing it for resale?
Re: sony SUCKS
That sucks man.. Good to know it can happen though, incase I ever sell my PS3. Do you have any idea which of the people you sold it to fraudulently used your information? Sony should be able to track the IP address and you should be able to report it to your local law enforcement. If it happened in another state I believe that would make it a federal crime.

Re: sony SUCKS
Considering how many I sold locally...I have no idea who it could be. It pisses me off though due to everyone I met being really nice and cool about things.
When I sold these ps3s I took everything off of them, then formatted, then rebooted as a fresh console to make sure it was all gone, then formatted AGAIN so when they turned it on it would be like a brand new ps3. I take alot of steps when I sell stuff...even more when its a ps3 or xbox 360.
Sony is just a pile of maggot filth that needs to get their shit straight. This is the first time ANY company has pissed me off. There is NO WAY, they can tell me...nope sorry we cant do that. Bullshit, I made the account on your network, you ban people all the time for fucking up...someone fucked up and I am REQUESTING you ban my account? and you cant? bullshit. Just like I have ended all my other posts. Fuck Sony.

Re: sony SUCKS
You should have shredded the harddrive. Format only does one sweep, shredding does 24 by default (atleast on Knoppix). Though I am not sure if they store that data on your harddrive or on that internal battery.
Doesnt make this any better, but food for thought for the future. Before I sell any computer, it gets shredded. And before I throw one out, it becomes coasters.
