Why are these two combined in one big thread?
Is it because their consoles have many of the same games?
Sony and microsoft should have seperate threads

Re: Sony and microsoft should have seperate threads
That, and even their oldest system's are fairly new compared to Sega and Nintendo and, considering this is a retro forum, it makes sense to have them both combined.BlackDS wrote:Why are these two combined in one big thread?

Older. Not wiser.

Re: Sony and microsoft should have seperate threads
We have discussed this previously, I think the closest we got to was having a seperate 'PC' section, but leaving the Sony & Microsoft forum as one, since they don't generate enough separate threads to warrant their own section. As Ryan put it, they share most of the same releases anyway, having two separate forums would unfortunately cause 2 threads to be created for the same games. This is something we definitely want to avoid.

Plus, if we had it separate - the Microsoft forum would only cover Xbox and Xbox 360. Maybe you could stretch it with MSX, but I doubt it. Just wouldn't make sense.
If we were like GameSpot, or any other site out there that focuses on modern games, then it would warrant itself. Until I start seeing Dedicated Post-Release Threads for games like The Saboteur, Army of Two: The 40th Day, Dark Void and other recent games get loads of comments, I'd say this site is perfectly justified in putting both the new kids on the block in the same basket.

Re: Sony and microsoft should have seperate threads
Wasn't the MSX a Sony console?!

Re: Sony and microsoft should have seperate threads
There were Sony-manufactured variations, but the MSX was Microsoft's brainchild.
