The "Peak" of a series?

Mega Man - In my opinion it peaked at 3 and everything after that was a waste of time.

Castlevania - Symphony of the night; format changed and now we have seen 3 gba and 2 ds titles in the same format.

Can't think of any series that haven't been touched on at the moment.

I think the Castlevania series, to be fair, has to be split into 2, or even 3 separate series. While I like the SoTN style castlevanias, I think Dracula X on the PC-Engine is the best overall, even over SoTN. It's certainly the best of the classic platformer Cvanias. And SoTN is better than any of its knock-off sequels. I would like to say that I consider Castlevania IV not really a part of the series even though it is. It was so different looking from the other, similar games. I really enjoyed it a lot for its own merits, but Dracula X takes the prize.

Im with dagir megaman peaked at number 3 and final fantasy peaked at IX

I think the best Megaman in any series was the first X. Just my opinion.

My favorite Mega Man was 2, but I think I agree that 3 was the peak of the traditional chronology. And I think the first X was the best of the later games.

Hmm Mega Man X was a disapointment for me. The first stage of the game was the best stage; everything after that was well Mega Man. Same format as the regular series; only with some armor upgrades.

Hmm. I recently played some MM3 and I find it's no where near as well balanced and programmed as 2. Lots of slowdown and cheap-ass hits. Maybe I just lack teh skillz. I vote for 2. MM8 is also pretty good (busted that one out last week for some quality PS1 time) but by that time the series was well past the point of "peaking." And yeah, I remember X was really cool but it's been years since I played that one.

yeah well i liked megaman legends better than megaman legends 2. for me thats a close call. i really really enjoyed the legends series. i wish they would make another one.

Legends series rocked. Unfortunately, the Megaman fanboys are very scared of change, and so nearly all of them hated the game, and most non-Megaman fans just assumed it was the same old crap they could safely avoid.
