Thinking of buying a PS3, well I DID LOL

Post by wclem »

Well guys, went ahead and took the plunge, very happy, extremely happy, my damn face hurts from smilin. Got a 40gb for 200 plus HDMI cable so I cannot bitch too much on price. Got some of the suggest games and the advice was right on. Thanks guys for the opinions.

Now, anyone wanna explain to me - do you have to pay to play onilne? Not planning to but as soon as my daughter saw she said she wants to try it. Do I gotta buy PSN cards or is it all free?

Please help this dinosaur!!

Let me get this straight; you want Zelda-style adventure games, Mario-style platformers, Resident Evil-like survival horror games, and don't care about online play? Get a Wii. It has all of what you're looking for. A PS3 would be superfluous for your needs.

Nah. I don't know if you have a Wii or not, but the Wii has ALL the types of games you mentioned. It's lite on rpgs, but that is changing this year.

We have a Wii and I hate it, controllers sucks and so do the games. I have never seen so much crapware in my life.

Are there none of these games yet for the PS3? PS2 and one has tons of em. See, normally I dont get into systems until way after they have been released. PS3 is still a newer console to me, very new LOL. Where is Crash, Spyro, any of these type of games? Is the entire library shoot em up war games? I went to a few local stores and this is all I can find.

When I say mario type, I really mean adventure games where the main focus isnt violence and killing. Dont get me wrong, I like violent games, but they have to have a point, not just running around. I truly enjoy a great story. I have enjoyed the story lines of RE and Silent Hill. They are done very well and do not focus entirely on hacking and slashing.

I am just trying to justify buying one, I want to have a nice high end system but dont know if this one is for me.

The Wii is light on just about everything, I mean Wii Bowling??? Truthfully though, I am to old for new controllers, new gimicks. That Wiimote thing drives me nuts. :D

edit: no offense on the bowling, just saw your sig.....

ps3 had little big planet which is fun, some interesting rpgs, but for the most part, a ps3 has everything a 360 does, just less and not as good exclusive games

there are two ratchet and clank games, and i think even a Jak game, both of the Ratchets are good, platforming is hard to get on a mainstream console because most people buy shooters, a ds might work for you?

Tried the DS, just cannot get into the touch screen.

Maybe things have just passed me by, shooters are just in now I guess.

By the way, I didnt even see those games when I was out looking today. I need to search internet and check em out.
