Crazy rare VHS prices

Post by Octopod »

I think this was brought up in another thread semi-recently.

This one is pretty crazy.

So that looks like it might be a D grade movie and they're using the original early 80s MRSP?

that's not really that uncommon. Cult flicks and awesome trash that haven't been reissued on DVD yet tend to demand high prices. Look up a list of films that were shown on USA's Up All Night and (A) I've probably seen it, and (B) if it's not on DVD yet, then the VHS is probably worth something.

Here is another, this is DVD though.

Gleaming the Cube. It has Tony Hawk, Mark Gonzales, Danny Way, and a bunch of other old school skaters. I WORSHIPED this movie when I was a kid.

Anybody ever get a copy of Yor, the Hunter of the Future? No? There's a DVD of it on Amazon for $75.43 right now...

I'm pretty sure that's a bootleg (or a "Region-0 Import" meaning bootleg). I don't think Gleaming was ever issued on DVD. But you might see these bootlegs pop up used once in a while.

Bones Brigade!

You need to check out THE SEARCH FOR ANIMAL CHIN. It's an awesome skating "vid".

Barbarian Queen and Deathstalker movies are some other ones where the DVDs reach $50+. That is probably more than it cost to make the movies themselves. I have minty copies of Barbarian Queen 1 & 2 on VHS and that will have to do me for now.

I mentioned this in another thread recently but I remember Salo: 120 Days in Sodom Criterion Collection DVD was fetching crazy prices untill it got re-released recently.

1. That movie rocks. I mean, it is a little slow in the middle but such awesome skating sequences.
2. Yeah, I don't think there was an official region 1 release. That's probably an asian bootleg.
