Console-wise, I can't see the DSI XL or the PSP Go going much further. Especially since Nintendo has announced they will be revealing the DS-2 in 8 months and releasing it in 15. Somewhere in heaven Gunpei Yokoi weeps.
Game-wise I'm being optimistic, but the big two may drown out some of the more interesting gems.

That writer is a damn fool.

I don't know. I think he's right on a lot of his predictions. I think he might be selling Sonic short on his ability go get attention, but Tatsunoko vs. Capcom? Heck, most American gamers don't even know what "Tatsunoko" is. It could be a surprise smash, but the emphasis is on "surprise."BigTinz wrote:That writer is a damn fool.

Fixed. I never understood why journalists need to be "jaded" even if it makes no sense to act as such. I mean what's next? An article saying that Mega Man 10 isn't going to sell well?Flak Beard wrote:I can't stand articles like this. When did bullshit game journalism become such a growing profession?

I think we can add a new game to that list: Deathsmiles. I will be surprised if it does well over here. I hope it does so we can get more Cave games, but I'm not holding my breath.

Aside from the Gears of War looky-likeys, like Quantum Theory and Dark Void, I'd have guessed the niche Wii titles would flop.
After NOA dropped the ball with advertisement on anything non-Mario, and it's treatment of Fatal Frame and Trace Memory on the Wii, I'm genuinely worried for the sequels to Sin and Punishment and Endless Ocean. As far as TvC, I've played it in my local arcade since it's Japanese release and the hype is pretty much dead. Don't get me wrong, it's a fun game, but I can't help but feel like the people who NEED to play it, mostly likely imported it 6 months ago. Hopefully the Grinder does well and is more fun than Left 4 Dead. And I don't think No More Heroes 2 will do as well as people seem to think it will.

after Tony Hawk's new entry, I'm sure they preformed franchise suicide on that one

As a matter of fact, I see that the author has really good points
I mean who would risk releasing his game with FF3 , specially if it is a new IP. Gamers can have only so much money and time,s o they are careful about what they pick up.
It doesn't mean the games will sell 10,000 copies, it just means that it will under-perform , maybe instead of making 700,000 sales, they will make just 150,000 . I personally feel the gaming market is being over saturated especially with yearly sequels like COD, yet every one argues back that how can more good games means a worse situation?
For me it means developers will stop making games because they put in a lot of good effort but there was no financial success due to high competition, making the future a place with same old games(COD) and a monopoly with no new innovative games.
last thing this , there are only 12 months a year. There will always be a good/great game released each month , if you are going to wait for the right time where no good games are out so you can sell yours, then that time will not come
