I just finished watching Speed an hour ago. It was good, and it was neat how it kept seeming like it was over, but wait, there's a new bomb, and there's another.

I just got back from Peter Jackson's new movie The Lovely Bones. I highly recommend it. It was very disturbing and uplifting. Also great special effects. I won't spoil the story for you though.

Wow. I think this our first disagreement.

The trailer is so awful/great. "My name is Salmon, like the fish" is one of the great dumb lines ever. Also, "Susie's in the in-between, "She's gone.. What if she isn't", and the two "Yooou're the Salmon girl, right?" Every line is amazing. "Why. Won't. You. Listen. To. Him. Because you need, evidence!". I thought the movie would have been equally so stupid that it would be good. It wasn't. It was just dumb and laughable, but not the good kind laughable.

It didn't follow the book, which wasn't great either, but they changed the ending in the movie, and salmon was never in the "in-between" in the book.

Oh well, to each his own.

Watched TYSON last night. It was as equally a documentary about the fall of Tyson as it was a doc on the fall of boxing. There are moments where you almost feel sorry for Iron Mike, then you remember he used to help old ladies with their groceries just to knock them out and steal their purse, jewelry, and groceries.

Also, a tip: If you ever see Mike Tyson in an elevator, don't go in it.

Basically, I often say it's good, but really, that's code for "it's good, but if I see it again, I won't like it as much". So... before I can watch it again and like it just as much, I'll have to wait a while.
But surely at some point in your life you have watched a movie that wasn't even enjoyable to watch the first time through!
Blood Diner. An easily forgettable piece of schlock from the '80s which tries to be a next-gen Blood Feast but fails horribly.

College. A pitiful attempt at an attempt to join the ranks of Animal House, Revenge of the Nerds, and American Pie.

Shrek the Third. Tragically, a low-point in the entry. While decent, it doesn't live up to the high standards of the Shrek franchise.

Underworld series. Overhyped. Aesthetically pleasing but ultimately quite vapid.

Dawn of the Living Dead. I couldn't even finish this piece of shit.

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. They tried to do too much in 2 1/2 hours. Surely a book of this length would demand more time.

Doom. When I first saw this in theatres, at least the dark room and booming sound system helped me to forget how much this sucked by amping up the cheap thrills.

Speed Racer. Looks pretty, but turns out to be pretty hollow.

Heh. I thought Speed Racer was the Wachowski brothers' second best film, though that's more a result of the others being really, really crappy than it being great.

I guess you're not the only one. It's getting ripped by the critics too. I checked metacritic and it's only at a 44. I went into it not knowing anything about it other than it was directed by Peter Jackson. I'd never heard of the book.

I thought the main bad guy was great portrayed because he felt very real. Stanley Tucci's performance was unnerving. I also enjoyed seeing a made-up afterlife brought to life with special effects. I also thought the whole thing was interesting that it swung around from the beautiful and idealistic to the psychologically dark and twisted.

Oh well, I can see why people didn't like it too. It just hit me right.
