Connecting EU PS3 to US PSN?

Is it possible because i know that a lot of people did it with the Bayonetta demo in japan, i would like to, seeing as our PSone classics section sucks ass and i really want a cheap version of a lot of psone classics.

You should be able to, I know when hotshots golf came out they had a demo in japan AND the uk...NOTHING in america...and I had an account for both. So should be possible

You can connect without any trouble, but you'll need a credit card with a US address or a US PSN point card (whatever they're called) in order to actually purchase anything.

Yeah, the most important thing to keep in mind is to always use PSN Cards for transactions. I've had friends use their credit cards on foreign accounts before and then their accounts get banned - never heard of this happening with PSN cards.

Not sure why, although I'd imagine credit cards are 'serious business' compared to network cards.

I have both a Japanese credit card and a Canadian one (basically the same as US content, except for movie downloads I think), so I know almost nothing about PSN cards.

I just wish I could get Outrun HD or whatever it's called off the Euro PSN!!!

I really don't understand why the have fragmented the psn so much.

if the ps3 is region free then why can't the psn games be as well?

Okay so how do i go about connecting to the American servers through my ps3??I suppose ill have to order a US PSN card thingy from Ebay.....

Why is it that our PSN has very little in the way of PSone titles?? I dont understand....

It's because Sony loves to shaft Europeans. They've done it since their first console. You should be used to it now.

To make a US PSN. You need to go all the way to the left on the XMB and create a new user. Once you have created a new user, go to the right, to the network section and then move up and create a new PSN ID. Then just follow the prompts, it's all in english so you shouldn't have a problem. When it asks for location, put US, not your country, otherwise you'll just make another European PSN. When it comes to an address, just google for an address, something like a restaurant in America or something, doesn't matter what it is, just has to be valid. You don't need to create a new email address, just don't check the option when it asks you for an email. IF you check the option they will send you an email to confirm, if you don't, they won't. Once you have entered the email address it will ask if you want to save the details and password, say yes, then you don't have to remember the name or password. Once you've done you can access the US PSN store.

HOWEVER. This is all against your T&Cs so do so at your own risk, you may have your PSN account banned, and they may even ban your PS3 from PSN full stop (however I've never heard of this happening).

It is also illegal, since you are falsifying details, which is fraud. Regarding buying things from the PSN US store, I'd advise against it, since they can ban your PSN account and all the games tied to it. I just use mine for free content, if they ban my PSN, no biggie, all I've lost is a couple of demos. You can use US PSN cards (since you can't use credit card option due to you not having a valid US address, so even if you managed to get your hands on a credit card, you'd need the matching address for validation, not to mention that is illegal since it is credit card fraud, which is something that you can get into a lot of trouble for) to fund the account.

Once you've done that, setup a Japanese PSN account and get access to all their demos.

A little thing called 'licensing'. It's not like they can just release any game willy-nilly. They have to go through all kinds of legal bullshit.

I think this is less Sony intentionally shafting Europeans and more everybody of value within Sony Computer Entertainment working in either Japan or America.

Dunno if the US is more strict, but I've bought plenty of stuff from the Japanese store with PSN cards, and they haven't banned me yet. And hey - even if they do, I'm pretty sure you can still play all the games you download. You just can't transfer or re-download them.

By the way, for those with multi-region accounts (I've got 4 myself - US, JP, HK and UK), these should help out. I use 'em myself.
