Thinking of buying a GP2X, anyone here have one?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Thinking of buying a GP2X, anyone here have one?

I'm considering saving up for one of these little beauties:

The idea of playing Mega Drive, Mega CD, Amiga, SNES NES Arcade and Neo-Geo games on the move open source style has me far more excited than anything the DS or PSP could possibly offer me, and the TV out just seals the deal for me. The reviews I've read have all been really favorable towards it (bar a rather naff control stick which they have apparently changed in a new revision).

Has anyone here got one, and if so any advice about it at all (like where I should get it etc) would be much appreciated.

(Also, don't say "Buy a PSP". I just want a system for emulation without having to mess around with firmware and shite.)

I also want one of those. I think racketboy has an article somewhere about it. He has one and lordofduct they can tell you about it.

Yeah, I saw Racketboy's article.

The cheapest I've seen one so far is £88 (plus £10 postage) at Play-Asia. I'd have to buy the TV output thingy too, though, and a power adapter.

They are cool, but I don't pull mine out as much as I used to.
It was great for a long plane ride. On my way from Michigan to California and back I used it quite a bit for some Genesis games and watching some TV episodes.

It's cool for watching TV during lunch breaks as well :)

I think the things that keeps me from using it more is the battery life (keep multiple sets of rechargables on hand) and the fact that I'm used to being able to flip the DS Lite screen down to pause and stow away. The DS lite spoils me :)

Also since manufacturer cases is hard to find/expensive, I actually had my mom make one out of material and velcro. It works rather well, but I still have to be careful to protect it.
