Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I'd be all for a meet in Chicago. It wouldn't even have to be around a con, just at a convenient time for most people. If someone is up for it, and has the balls of steel to let strangers into their home, someone to either host or give people a place to stay would be a huge help. I was at a game meet for another forum not that long ago and if it weren't for the host offering up his floor to sleep on I know I wouldn't have been there. Hotels can be damn expensive in big cities.

I just saw this thread and I'd be game. Even if it's just a gathering and not yet a conference.

My take if it's a conference: Charlotte has a decent airport and hotel/conference rates would be cheaper than other big cities - also potentially easier to navigate, but also realize that it's not close to everyone. One suggestion, if this thing is held in any snow-belt states, I vote for a summertime date.

I would be game for this con if it is in the south east. If it is pretty much anywhere in NC then you can definitely count me in. I'm sure a lot of RB members would enjoy this. You may also want to look into getting sponsors, that could help cut down cost. As for the size of the con I'm sure anything greater than 50 people would work fine. Hope we get this going. :D

Good luck with getting sponsors.

Things haven't changed since I had this idea; we need to:

Set a date.
Set a location.

It's been months, and still we can't agree on this. I say a weekend in May, in Raleigh NC.

I'm willing to put time and effort into this, but no one seems to want to commit. If all else fails, everyone is welcome to come to my house on July 4th to eat, drink, game, and blow shit up (preferably fireworks and not my house).

Uh, Animazement meet up? Memorial Day weekend. You could just do a 1-day badge and we can plan on Saturday. I know we already have a few members that are already in attendance.

I host a 4th party also, so any RBers in the Triad (Winston-Salem, NC) area can PM me.

Ok well since yall keep pushing this, lets try this: Pick a town for the event.

Then we can work on a location and date. Everything is moot if we don’t have a town. The towns suggested thus far have been:
Chicago - Illinois
Philly - Philadelphia
Charlotte – North Carolina
Raleigh – North Carolina – Where Luke has connections
Los Angeles – California
Denver – Colorado
Dallas – Texas
San Francisco – California
Atlanta – Georgia – Where I have connections
Concord – North Carolina
(I may have missed some – internet is a bit wonky right now)
With Chicago and Raleigh being the most suggested.

I have no problem traveling to most any of those (depending on the weekend – family comes first) but ofcourse I would love to do it within driving distance so I can bring more stuff.

Like I said, once we have a city, then we can start working on other parts. The rest of the planning will be A LOT easier compared to this part. And Luke if you want to take the helm, go for it. I have no problems with helping get this off the ground, in either form, I just want everyone to have a realistic vision of this. Meetup or convention, I wouldnt expect more than 200 people. Mainly since one of the Momocon side events is a board and videogaming day that we advertise at 30 or 40 cons throughout the year and the most we have had attend is 180 (the one we had last weekend that I was too ill to attend had less).

And since I like to just decide things – I am still doing an official meetup at Animazement. Ill get with Majors and any others who know the area closer to the event to decide on a place. As of right now, it’ll have to be in the evening (it looks like we will have a dealers table for Momocon). Speaking of which if I can get some cheap consoles Ill have them on site, cleaned up, and if possible region modded. And yeah, we will probably do a meetup at Momocon aswell – sans actual retrogaming.

Oh and Modman, we can make concrete burn.
