Genetos - The "Evolving" SHMUP (PC FREEWARE)

Post by Flak Beard »

Anyone here play this yet? I was blown away by the quality of the game, especially considering one person worked on it. It's pretty short (about 25 minutes), but the music, visuals and gameplay are top notch. You start with a clone of Space Invaders and then progress through through the years of SHMUP design.

I hope you guys get a chance to dig into. Honestly, it's one of the best PC freeware games I've played.

Yup - I'm a fan! I brought it up in the podcast I did with Rockin' Android and Kurt Kulata - we mentioned plenty of other indie shmups as well...

I'm downloading this right now. Thanks for the link! :)

*Edit: WOW!

Awesome 'shmup! Great idea for a game, and the fact that it's free makes it even better!

I finished it in the default difficulty (which is rather easy, as you get like 20 ships) and it is a quality implementation of a rather nice idea.

I want to play through it again (its not too long) in higher difficulty levels (the toughest one is rather hard, as expected, couldn't get past level 1), but currently I decided to play another shooter I had for a while and hadn't really played yet.
