Gabriel

I was browsing through the Fearnet portion of On Demand and came across this movie. It sounded a lot like the new movie Legion coming out so I was interested. I can tell right away that there are a ton of people out there who probably hate this movie. It is dark and gothy, the dialogue is so so, the action is so so, but I felt like it was a really interesting story. Especially since it was written by a guy who had never even dabbled in movies (I think he was a remover in Australia and worked a ton of extra jobs to raise money for the film). I think the total budget was something like AU$ 200,000. All these things considered I was impressed. In fact, I found those things out after the fact and it made me respect the film even more. I can see how some of the mistakes he made will easily be rectified with more experience and a bigger budget. I would say give this movie a shot, especially if you are interested in the new movie Legion.

The Fugitive - It was on tv a dozen times this weekend and I was quite ill so hand in hand. Still one of, if not the, best TV show to movie adaptations. Sure there are unbelievable parts, sure they changed alot. But it is Tommy Lee Jones being an asshole, Harrison Ford yelling, and it has one of the greatest scenes from 1993 movies where in the Dam Harrison Ford tells him he didnt kill his wife and Tommy's response is "I dont care." So fitting to the character, to the story, and simply delicious to the viewers.

Rudy - Like The Fugitive it was on tv last weekend, just not as many times. They still took out Georgia Tech and he was carried off the field. And since I am always curious how much of a film like that really happened, apparently yes Rudy played two plays (but one was not a kick off), and in his final play he got a sack (ironically the Tech QB was also named Rudy).

Hitchcock's rope, absolutely amazing movie, anyone who likes suspense should see this classic

Vantage Point- surprised me, not amazing, but a good action flick

Return of the Living Dead 3- just brilliant

Rope is easily in my top 4 or 5 Hitchcock movies, though it's hard to rank-order them as I love just about every one...Vertigo is probably my favorite, though.

For Rope, the homosexual subtext was really well done, intriguing, and still somewhat daring for its day. I also like the fact that it is basically all shot in one apartment - if you get a chance, check out some of the bonus features found on the Special Edition DVDs.
