Yeah that was my mistakemarurun wrote:Old thread, I breathe life into you anew!
Yeah, a new thread somebody started brought ideas into my head and Mozgus pointed out this original.
Anyway, what I said there was:
Castlevainia series - I suppose I can see why it could be good (nice music, RPG elements) but I just don’t see the appeal of the series. I just don’t see the appeal of exploring labyrinth style levels.
Metriod series - Again I don’t see the appeal of exploring those dank, dark and lonely maze like levels. Spent some time with Prime on GC, the Snes version and that GBA version (Fusion I think it was) for quite a while and it just didn’t appeal to me.
Resident Evil series - Now with this series I enjoy playing through, but only once. I don’t see the appeal of how people replay the game over and over again...in different costumes.

Tomb Raider: This series I swear only got popular because the main character has big tits. You can say all you like about clever puzzles to solve etc, but for me it was just chunky crap controls and a bore fest. Mind you, I haven't played the new ones so I can't really judge those, I'm just going on the original 32-bit series.
Tony Hawks: IGN gave these games 9.9 a lot of the time. The hell? I really wanted to like the score attack systemn of these games, but there simply isn't a control set up that makes any sense, and I end up just mashing buttons hoping my character might do something and land it. maybe I just suck at it, but the dull brown graphics didn't help either.
Gran Turismo: BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING.

I can't stand any turn based combat games. Seriously, who takes turns in combat? Taking turns is for board games, and even then I don't like it.
I agree, Gran Turismo is about as exciting as a balled up newspaper. Forget playing it on the original PSX, the load times last longer than the actual races.
I don't care for the Unreal Tournament or Quake games. By the way, has anyone seen the newest Quake? It looks like an attempt at ripping off Battlefield, except with poor graphics and annoying gameplay.

Poor graphics and annoying gameplay like IN Battlefield? I dunno, I was kind of hoping Quake Wars was going to be fix all the wrongs of the Battlefield series, but it looks like it's going to be equally bad.Chris Mapp wrote:I don't care for the Unreal Tournament or Quake games. I just realized I'm exactly like this. That, and your Sony and Racial comments are so freakin' true too!lordofduct wrote:I'll have to admit something, no matter how pathetic it may sound... but I am like that total opposite of the person who clings to band wagons. Which is just as bad.
When I see a band wagon coming through town filled with Halo lovers and Titanic fans I immediatly jump ship and instantly gain a slight bias for the game. Not sure why, it just up sets me knowing that these 'big games' get so much love an adoration for some meager thing they've done which has already been done.
Ah yes, Timesplitters is prolly what got me into the FPS genre tbh. Playing that on cube is like pure goodness. It's the only console FPS I really think suits the dual-stick control method. Of course, it could be played with keyboard and mouse, but it's still one of my favorite FPSes. I really need to get the third one for cube sometime. I can't wait for their next gen game either!racketboy wrote:Timesplitters had some of the most ideal controls for a console FPS IMO, but is significantly different than Halo.
As for games I don't like:
Halo series
just seems like a run of the mill FPS, but I hate how everybody loves the music so damn much. It's not even all that good. It's just some cacophony of drum beats and violin. I had to fastforward through the band presentation on the XBL version of the E3 MS conference thing.
3D Final Fantasy series
I will not play a 3D one ever, mainly because that's where they just started becoming more about some insanely long game and FMVs and sappy storylines. I've pretty much bought all of the GBA remakes cept 6, which I'm looking into getting. They're alright and I'm really only buying them as I know someday in the future I'll need some somewhat long games to play.
GTA series
I honestly don't like all the fuss made around the games. All the fucking retarded Police officers getting offended, all the mothers thinking it's the end of civilization, all the politions acting like parents because parents don't want to be parents; it's too hard. I personally enjoyed Crackdown though, so if GTA4 is anything like it, I may eventually try it out.
Guitar Hero and DDR
Okay, so it's not that I don't like these games, I love em...well, I love Guitar Hero, but rythm games in general just seem to be uninspired and usually have a shitty selection of songs. I mean, Guitar Hero never seems to have my favorite songs. I just hope they improve on this when they make tons of songs that are downloadable. That and the guitar is not good for my small hands. They seriously need to make one with smaller keys. I would enjoy it so much more. As to DDR, I just pretty much hate all home versions. The music selection sucks, the pads suck, and playing it in the arcade is so much more embarrassing and so much more fun. Plus, the bar helps a lot. The only DDR game I really enjoy is DDR Mario mix on Super Hard and Very Hard. I like all the Mario music tbh, 90% of it is enjoyable to me. Plus, it's the only home version except the 360 version to have 480p.
Pheonix Wright series
Am I the only one who thinks this game is for stupid people who want to feel smart or something? The game is total trial and error. The actual court thing is one solution from my experience and only follows the logic of some Japanese Game designer who I definitely am not. Plus, the way the Japanese court system works is totally fucked up. It doesn't make any fucking sense. It should be called the confused foreign attorney game.
FarCry
Maybe it's just the 360 version sucks, but I'm sure glad the 360 version only cost 40 bucks. The game's controls are awful and achievement system is totally ridiculous. Only a freakin idiot would take the time to get 1000G out of that.
Honestly, I think Quake Wars looks pretty badass, especially the MEGATexture stuff (which allows for the battlefield to be made up of one gigantic 32768 x 32768 image), and could be really great. The only problem I have is if the experience on the console versions will be much worse, considering they aren't being ported by Splash Damage or ID, but by two companies unknown to me. Then again, I haven't played the game, so I can't talk from personal experience with the BETA.Mozgus wrote:Poor graphics and annoying gameplay like IN Battlefield? Mozgus,
You've got me there. Perhaps poor graphics was a little strong. Of course, now I'm just realizing that it is the Beta I'm referring to (doh!), so maybe things will change when the completed version is released.
Also, I'm going to have to add Resident Evil 4 to the list. I enjoyed it, but I really didn't see it as this greatest game of all time like many people I knew.

I'd like to take Mario into a hotel room, and piss all over him, R Kelly style. In fact, the entire Nintendo roste: piss on them. Everything about the Nintendo universe inherently angers me. Character design that looks like it came out of a monkeys ass, replete with moronic letters on caps. They should be shot. I am sooo sick of everydamn Nintendo game and the same fucking sound bites jackin off their dusty word sperms into my ears. Do I need to see a little mini Bowser turd doing a victory dance? Fuck him.
Its a struggle for me to enjoy any Nintendo games, when I have to wade through all the Mario attitude and saccharine characters. The sheer lack of any originality from the Nintendo stables should foretell an ignominious doom for the company. They court the casual gamer, but which casual gamer can swallow this shit and not puke? Anemic Nintendo Fanboys.
There are alot of other games I do not like, which others lap up. But none, none seem to attract such blind adoration as the Nintendo roster, and none is so reviled in my little black book of hate.

Thats the most concentrated Nintendo hatred I've ever seen. Ouch man.durkada wrote:I'd like to take Mario into a hotel room, and piss all over him, R Kelly style. i think i've come to hate my own creation...
i can't get into sonic games, especially the original ones on genesis. with all the "go fast!" feeling, it makes me want to just blaze through the levels without "enjoying" it, for lack of a better word. platformers tend to go stale pretty quick for me, and sonic was always one of the worst with me
