came with a really crappy video sega demo disc as well. Just looks liek VHS tbh.

It never had an official purpose. Cheat devices used it until Sony removed the parallel port in later revisions of the console.Scooter wrote:Was the parallel port on the back of the original Playstation every really used for anything (official)?
The reason I personally think the parallel port was removed: If you had a cheat device that plugged in to the parallel port it was possible to run imported/backup games by disc swapping. This is how most people ran imports back in the early days of the PSX.
