Time Crisis 3 & Nyko Super Cobra compatibility?

Post by wip3outguy7 »

I picked up Time Crisis 3 today but it won't recognize my Super Cobra. The Super Cobra has a Guncon .45 mode and a video cable. I have read in several places that the Guncon .45 is compatible with Time Crisis 3. So what gives? I don't have any way to test out the Guncon mode of the Cobra as Time Crisis 3 is the only Namco Guncon game I have. The game acts as if nothing is plugged into the control port.

Anyone else out there with a Super Cobra and TC3 who can test this out?

Yes, the video cable is plugged in. Yes, the "Guncon" switch is turned on. And yes, I'm playing on a light gun compatible CRT.

Oh, and the Konami mode on the Super Cobra works fine. I've been playing Project Horned Owl for almost a week with it - both using my PS1 and my PS2.

It's the Playstation only "super" Cobra. It looks identical to the dual system Cobra but is Playstation compatible only and has Konami and Guncon modes.

I picked up an actual Guncon today (first gray model) and it doesn't work with the game, either. So it's either a problem with my PS2 or online information is wrong and you cannot use the original Guncon with Time Crisis 3.

Nope, Time Crisis 3 needs Guncon 2. Time Crisis 2 and that Vampire game can use 45s though.

i have a madcatz blaster and it works on my ps1 & 2 and even with konami games
i use it on my rca truflat tv (flatscreen) and it work great. i say get this gun for your ps1 & ps2 needs i have every ps1 & ps2 (usa released) light gun game and it works with all of them but i have a hard time with project horned owl i have to select the game witha controller then plug in the gun but it works for it and is the only game that has a problem.

oh some games that use grenades like crypt killer for ps1 i cant seem to find a button that shoots the grenades maybe it has to be configed in the game but i havent used it in a few months but i will check it out for you if you are interested in this gun.

Ok, so I have a couple of Guncon 2s now but playing on a PS2 through the standard composite cable is ass. I know there is a special box/cable that will allow you to use Svideo with the Guncon/2 attached but I was wondering if this would work: some 3rd party cables are designed with a composite video AND Svideo attached. If I were to use one of these and run the Svideo to the TV and the composite video (yellow jack) to the Guncon video cable would the gun still register?
