Considering the Wii has more than 1% of the vote here it looks like you're wrong.
If you think so but I find the Wii was most peoples only choice so they will defend it to the death.

That or they are die hard nintendo diehards (I have all nintendo systems except the virtual boy which I sold) so you could argue I would be classed as a fanboy. But the Wii is shockingly inferior

If the Wii came out instead of the gamecube then yes it would have been pretty impressive.

This thread is as useful as 2 car guys having a Ford Vs Chevy argument. Both pretty much do the same thing, cost close to the same price, and will be reliable as long as you take care of it. Its really just a matter of personal opinion.

That being said Im a Ford/PS3 man myself.

I think this is because they don't want to pay $99 for the Microsoft WiFi adapter. I know this because I ran the ethernet line for my nephew and a friend....both were clueless about computers. They would have preferred wireless.

The only way to fix the problem permanently is to use some high quality leaded solder and rework the BGA using an infrared workstation.
That's baloney that a company cannot do anything about the problem. Use a higher-quality lead-free solder that has a higher melting point is one way. Provider better cooling/ventilation for the system. Choose components that use less energy.
Niode wrote: It's a problem that affects both the PS3 and 360, the main reason the 360 appears to have higher failure rates is because there is simply more of them to fail.
I don't think that's the case. The sales numbers for the 360 is 37M versus 31M...only a 20% difference. According to this website, a survery shows XBOX 360 with a failure rate of 24%, PS3 10%, and the Wii 3%.

http://www.gamespot.com/news/6216691.html

At another website, it shows 50+% 360 failure.

In fact I would put money on it that you would get a ylod on the PS3 slim if you over heated it. That's physics bro.
I can understand if someone place the console in a poorly ventilated area and played it non-stop, they would be responsible. Is that the reason why so many 360s failed? If your console is well ventilated, should it ever overheat?

A Mario game using a Palette swap? What a scandal!

What a shit article. At least focus on a game that's bad if you're going to write something like that.

I like my Wii the least out of all my consoles, but I still think it's a decent console.

This bothers me for some reason. These are current gen consoles, not next gen.

I think the best system highly depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you like Nintendo properties, casual games and graphics don't matter with the best system reliability clearly the Wii would be the best system for you. If you want built in Bluray, WiFi, great exclusives and free online gaming with good system reliability the PS3 is the system for you.

If you like playing the new FPS of the month, a large library of games and don't mind paying for extra for WiFi and a somewhat better online gaming and don't mind the low system reliability, the 360 is the system for you.

For me though, the PS3 clearly wins for best current gen system. It has a better build quality then the 360, better controller, built in Bluray and WiFi. Its a more powerful system and I think the exclusives are better for my gaming tastes.

So what has been Sony's real mistake?

Post by Flake »

Quick disclaimer, I'm not trying to start a Sony bashing thread. I love me some PS1 and the PS2 comprises the bulk of my collection. More I'm aiming at a discussion on what mistakes Sony has done to lose such a large portion of the market share.

So what's the deal? Sony is the company that effectively knocked Sega out of the race, stopped the Nintendo Juggernaut (well, Nintendo helped them with that), and forced all of us to buy new DVD copies of what we already had on VHS (those big black movie bricks for you youngins).

And Now...? Well, they're not going bankrupt or anything but anyone can say that the thunder has been stolen.

So what do you guys think Sony did wrong and what would fix it all?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
