Best Next-Gen System

Well if you already have a 360, and a hd tv, I'd say bluray is the best reason to get a ps3. It's one of the best players you can get, and is also one of the cheapest for it's features.

PSN exclusive games are brilliant (compared to XBLA, only, may be on windows/iphone/psp as well). You have;

If you don't have an HDTV don't
ps3 games are usually inferior to 360 ones unless they are exclusive(Look at bayonetta review on ign)
Online community is "meh" as far as I hear
and Bluray is no use
Does not play ps2 games

ps2 plays ps2/1 games, really cheap.

Now if you have HDTV and want you want to watch Bluray, and you do not have 360
then PS3 is a great piece hardware.
The number of exclusives surpasses the 360 as far as I know, and I think Demon Soul is enough reason.

The whole question is, do you want to jump to current generation? Do you own an HDTV?
if you don't and you already got a 360 I see no much reason to get a ps3

i do have a 360 and an HDTV. just trying to gather some opinions.

i read those threads, btw, just looking for fresh opinions. i've never understood the whole "forums as libraries" thing...

Few things I would like to clarify.

Don't concern yourself with memory size if you choose to go for an older (and now more expensive) model. The hard drive can be replaced on your own very easily. Sadly I have a 3rd run model so no Ps2 backwards for me
