I had an idea for a sticky, just thought I'd suggest this...
So I guess EVERY forum is plagued with thread after thread of the same question(s). The thing is, a lot of great guides have been written on this forum already but they get "lost" so to speak. Just recently I was searching how to get Sega Cue Maker working in Win7 and couldn't find anything in Google, and even though a guide was written on this forum it's own author couldn't find the thread!
So I was thinking it'd be a good idea to have a sticky thread where the first post has links to other threads that are guides. The authors of each guide can be responsible for keeping the guides up to date (because guides easily become out dated). If some one makes a new guide, they can post a link to it in the sticky thread and the author or a mod can edit it into the first post. Hell, maybe it'll even inspire others to write some nice guides.
Or maybe instead of making a new thread, merge this idea into the already stickied thread in the Tech Help forum.
I also think this thread...

...should be stickied.

Sounds like a good idea. It's so easy to google around and only find a ton of either wrong, or horribly outdated information on thing like burning saturn games, having a place to point everyone too would be very nice.
Re: Idea for sticky in Tech Help forum...
I used to run a forum, and I joined a lot of forums,
and one of the most annoying stuff to me and other members is when newcomers come in to ask a question or a topic that has been discussed to death.
The funny thing is that I go over to a new forum and I do the exact same thing...
Most members would tell you to search the forums first, but the forums are hard to search really it isn't like google.
My suggestion is to make a FAQ section or Guides section, and separate them into consoles with each console section containing different sections like Best Games , mods, troubleshooting and more.
That way any members can search just one topic/thread instead of browsing thousands of topics and even more posts to find that tiny bit of information.
I really like the idea how you have all the questions on top and once you click on it , it takes you down to the answer. Just like how bitgamer,underground-gamer are designing their FAQ section.

So if I take the liberty to make the first post, can a mod sticky it for me? I'm not gonna bother making a list of guides (and maintaining it) if it's not gonna be stickied.

When you post, Ill make it sticky. If I dont within a few hours, PM me.
I was thinking about doing this and starting with the stuff in the guide section. Alot of it needs to be updated with better methods. Actually all of the burning guides should probably be updated with instructions on how to do it with imgburn since it is free.

OK, I'll put together that post as soon as I can. I was gonna name it "Useful Guides - Check here FIRST before posting" or something to that effect. Sound good?
Attention EVERYONE: I only know of a few threads on this forum off hand, and what ever I have bookmarked. Please post a link in this thread to any guides that you know of so that I might put it in the new sticky thread. Thanks!

We can change the name if we need to down the road, thats as easy as changing the text.
Re: The Guide Collection suggestion thread
I renamed the name of the thread so that people can suggest in this thread instead of the guide collection thread.
