They make awesome gifts for grandparents who don't know anything about computers, but love family photos.

Yea every instance of someone getting one of these has ended up the same way.
That or they are too lazy to change which pictures are shown.

Speaking of those blacklit displays, I reckon they'd cost less to maintain than a real fishtank. A 3D display with a fishtank screensaver would probably be more cost efficient than the real deal, when the technology becomes mainstream that is.

They're not that bad... You can put slideshows of many pictures on them depending on how much space is on them. It's like a picture frame that automatically shows a bunch of photos instead of one.
