Well, I just picked up a PS 3 and I also picked up Folklore, Heavenly Sword and Ratchet & Clank. I was all excited to turn it on and try some games and maybe even pop in my copy of The Dark Knight and watch my first Blue Ray movie and lo and behold, no component cable. I just purchased a HIGH DEF gaming system and there are no component cables. I didn't have to go out and buy component cables when I bought my 360, but that's Sony for you. They never have been very customer friendly

Unfortunately, you have to buy component/HDMI separate only composite cables come with PS3. HDMI cables can be pretty cheap on monoprice and I see component cables go for usually $20-$30 on various online outlets official brand other third-party would likely be much cheaper.

I'll have to look into that. I swear though, that's just wrong on principle. Being a high def, Blue Ray playing machine is the system's big selling point. It's because of things like this that Sony gets so much hate from people. It's no big deal though. I'm quite busy with Dragon Age on the 360, so my PS 3 gaming can wait a bit longer. I'm just quite shocked I have to go out and get component cables myself when I didn't with my 360

360s don't come with them anymore? If I'm going to spend over $250 on something, it's not unreasonable for me to expect it to be properly outfitted.

Its such crap too, because obviously, their cost would be minimal. Oh wait, then they wouldn't be able to sell official PS3 HDMI cables and make some extra scratch.

Actually, that's not entirely true. If HDMI cables cost them even just $10 a piece, and Sony's sold about 27 millions units, it would have cost them about 27 billion dollars to supply each console with the cables.
