I can't get into those. So utterly linear and pre-scripted. If I wanted to watch a movie, I would.
Why watch a movie when you can play a movie? That's the entire point. They are SUPPOSED to be linear and pre-scripted!

As much as I'm critical of games for trying to be too much like movies, I actually think Uncharted is a lot better than quite a few movies. Apart from that I've found the gameplay to be solid in it's own right and the AI is good enough that each scene can be played over again and still be fun. I played the original demo many times over and it was basically void of narrative elements.

I'd say definitely give Valkyria Chronicles a good look. The anime presentation might throw you off, but the game itself is amazing. If you have any interest in tactical RPGs, it's definitely the way to go.

Not to sound like a dick but, between the 2010 exclusives and the existing exclusives game library and PSN games, if theres only one game that appeals to for the PS3 you might want to rethink your hobby. Great, original IPs may not be your thing. :)

All kidding aside, there are tons of great games on the PS3 that can't be played anywhere else. I won't list them again because most of them have already been listed. Try playing them before judging them from internet reviews, you may just surprise yourself! Plus the fact that lots of games are region free, so imports are something to look into as well. I found the asian version of Siren-Lost Translation on disc in full english for $20.00 and its awesome.

One thing I have to add though, Sony pulled a boner move when they discontinued PS2 BC. Its one of the most popular, most played consoles in the world and to pull that support from PS3 was a dumb move. It was a major factor when I bought a "next gen" system.

The PS3s lineup was looking kinda weak compared to the 360s 2 or so years back. Having PS2 BC that upscales PS2 games on HDTVs would have been a major plus in Sonys favor since I, and most people have lots of PS2 games. I bought a 360 because it had BC for lots of games a slightly better game selection at the time. Anyways, enjoy your PS3!

Don't really care for the gameplay in survival horror. I find them interesting, but every one I've tried feels clunky or something put me off. I have tried Condemned on PC, RE COde Veronica on DC, Silent Hill 4 I think it was on PC. I swear I've tried an RE and some others that I can't remember. I do want to pick up Dead Space, but on PC.
I also like fighters, so Virtua Fighter 5 and Soul Calibur IV were important buys for me on the 360, but I might go for a PS3 version since hopefully it won't fail like both of my 360s did. I don't have BlazBlue, Street Fighter IV, or King of Fighters XII either, and I might someday pick up Tekken 6 in an attempt to get into the system again, but I wouldn't pay $50 for any of them.
I suck at fighters. I have some for older systems that I'll mess with, but I don't enjoy them enough to progress very much beyond button mashing. Fighting games now are like rhythm games more than ever and I don't care for thsoe either.
A few other games that have peaked my interest were Echochrome(bizarre looking puzzle game on the PSN) and Way of the Samurai 3. I'm also happily looking forward to 3D Dot Heroes and Yakuza 3. I'd like to try the Uncharted series to see what the fuss is all about as well, and since I own the first three Metal Gear Solids, I might as well go for the fourth some day.
I was sort of interested in Uncharted, which had slipped my mind or I glazed over last night, but since you just compared it to MG, now I'm not so sure as I didn't care for those when I tried them.
Anything in that list that remotely interests you?
Blargh, thanks for the input though.

Beyond that, 3D Dot Game Hero looks the business.
Might pick up the Sega disc, though I have the PS2 one and many of the games for Genesis already. There's only 1 or 2 new additions I'd get use of. Of course this would be ridiculous to be one of very few games to own to play on it.

I'd forgotten about 3D Dot Game Hero. Thanks for reminding me about that one.

Ah see now we're talking. Does the PSN force you to buy points you can never fully use up like XBLA, or can you buy thing directly like an adult with a credit card? I guess I will be finding this out.

Ah, no, I didn't mean Uncharted was like Metal Gear. I just know it's been a popular series.

The PS3 games I own so far are amazing.

Resistance 2 has a great campaign mode for an FPS and a really extensive XP driven multiplayer online.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is my favorite MGS, you own a PS3, you should own this game...even if you have to skip the cutscenes. Also, no one really mentions this but MetalGearOnline is included free with MGS4, which I love.

Uncharted 1&2 are both a ton of fun and play much like Tomb Raider/Ico meets Gears of War/Resident Evil 5.

Little Big Planet is an enjoyable Mario Bros. rip off with a really cool style, is four players, and has online.

Resident Evil 5 is the best action game I've played in a while and it's co-op, on and offline..But if someone tries to call it a 'horror' game, I'll call them a liar.

Although I haven't yet played them, I've heard good, good things about Yakuza 3, Afrika, Valkyria Chronicles, and Demon Souls.

Beyond that, up coming releases are looking great too, 3D Dot Game Heroes, God of War III, Heavy Rain, Final Fantasy XIII, Grand Turismo 5, and The Last Guardian.

Okay, this thread has bummed me out a little. First to answer your question, no you just have to add intervals of $5 whenever you buy something. So there are like 2 $3 titles and yes, the minimum amount you can add is $5. Other than that, its way better than the Microsoft method of making sure you always have points left over.

Next, Pixeljunk Monsters is so amazing. I have put more hours into that game than any other. It is so hard yet so good. I love it. It is my favorite game on that system. Everyday Shooter is one of the best games as well (though I hear its on PC). Eden and Shooter are both very good, and yes I think Pixeljunk is a great series of games (except Racers). Flower demands a play through, and I think its $10 which is a very good value. Other than that, and I swear I'm not trying to flame...

I really don't think any of the PS3 exclusives are that incredible. Uncharted 2 is a good game but it is a B or maybe even A grade action movie that you happen to play. And what I mean by that is, its exactly what you expect, its as long as it should be, crazy stuff happens, the graphics look tight, and you have to shell out $60 for it. Its not a bad thing, I just don't know if it really does anything more than exactly what you'd expect.

I guess like a lot of Racketboy members I am a penny pinching gamer, so again I'm not flaming against Sony exclusives, I just think that if Uncharted 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift or Demon's Souls were $30 each, I'd totally recommend them to you.
