While the PS3 still has a ways to go, I don't disagree with the decision.

Users vented their anger about developer Infinity Ward’s decision not to permit dedicated servers for this title by hammering the game on Metacritic.

I'm kinda surprised this affected the PS3's user score this much. PC score, sure, but dedicated servers aren't really a 'given' with console games.

Not saying they shouldn't be, but still. I hear more PS3/360 owners complaining about lackluster single-player more than anything.

PS3 had an awesome year of gaming this year and 2010 looks even better with all the exclusives coming out like Heavy Rain, God of War 3.

I don't think it will ever be as good as the PS2 was in it's day, but I love the PS3. I bought mine in July, and I haven't looked back since.

I was pretty pissed when the slim was announced a few weeks later though.

I bought the 40gb, 2 weeks later the 80gb was lowered to the same price

I have to say I am happy,
I am not a playstation fan, and I do not own a ps3, but things have really changed.

When ps3 was released 360 was KING with its online play, great games like Gears of War, and a perfect price for that time.
The Wii was doing crazy sales(still) and everyone was hoping for the great system that will get motion controls of the future now and here ,and all you have to give up is HD graphics which no one owns a TV for any way. For an amazing price of $250!

The ps3?
a $600 system, that uses a media(Bluray) that is not standard needs HDTV to get its advantage, no games, bad online gameplay, ugly bulky system, which doesn't give you any reason to buy. People bought it out of pure fanboy-ism.
I recall when my cousin was like I saved big time to buy this console, and I was laughing saying what the hell did you do to yourself? The PS3 SUCKS. Sony is going down the sh!t-hole, and you just threw your money in the trash! They really did it this time!
Things were looking really dark and gloomy for Sony, and the playstation brand last days seemed near.

I must say I am absolutely amazed, how could they have hanged in there so long?
I wasn't there but I believe the Dreamcast didn't face so much hate and criticism, it was always praised(up to this day) with great games, yet it failed miserably with like 2 yeas of a life time.

Come back to look at the ps3, here how it is:
Its the best value for your money.
Bluray is standard, the system is nicely valued at $300, a lot of great games and its the system with most new exclusive IPs, the slim is compact and nice, online gameplay is good enough and free, you have the psn store, a free wifi, USB charger for the batteries, its getting all the great multiplatformers, and you know what?
While Microsoft played all its card with the Halos , Fables, and Forzas , Sony still didn't release its biggest franchises and system sellers like GT and God of War.

its really impressive and Sony deserves a clap. I think it says a lot about the company.
Though some negative points are still there:

*Sony lies and exaggerates, their super cell powered machine doesn't put out better graphics , even if it does no one is using it.
*Sony pulled out ps2 support was a let down, if they put it back in I think it will sell like crazy
*Sony let their fans down by giving a million different system configurations, dropping prices of systems and upgrading them, dropping ps2 support, its just crazy.

Last thing I would like to say is, I think Sony took a lot of time to come to this position, and it needs a lot more to beat the competition. If it stays on this road eventually they will beat Microsoft AND Nintendo, psx had 100 million "hardcore" gamer, ps2 had 100 million "hardcore" gamer, and I bet those still exist and didn't move to the Wii. The Wii owners are new non-gamers, so its not taking out of the Sony pie, let us not forget the Wii has still to double its sales to reach ps2/psx sales!
Their system is already outdated with people upset about graphics, HD support, and data storage size.
ps3 can still sell 6 years in the future easily.
The problem?
Nintendo and Microsoft will jump ship to next generation before the ps3 flourishes, forcing Sony to end ps3 and put out ps4, unless Sony do what Nintendo did , and make the ps4 just an updated ps3.

Oddly the PC is second, hmm I thought the PC was slowly dying as a platform.
