Adding fuel to the fire are we?dgamemuster wrote:define this solid structure you speak of?Luke wrote:What if the retro challenge had a solid structure?
Okay.
Firsties:
I love what 707 and Hobesters are doing. It's fun. It attracts gamers. And again, and most importantly, it is mostly fun.
But! (everyone has a but) it lacks structure.
1: It's like if Wheel Of Fortune asked you to ask the answer at any time of the day. Structure.
Structure = Set times. Example "Questions will be posted at 1pm, 3pm, 6pm, Eastern Standard Time"
2: Number of Questions per day.
Structure.
Structure = We will have three questions per day, at the time listed.
3: GIFS/JPEGS that don't include 20+ games/two+ consoles that could be acceptable.
Structure.
Structure= Posters get pissed when "classicgamer" and "darthmonkey" post over and over different consoles that all share the same game title. This will only be the one time I say this, "Hate the game, not the player".
4:Scheduled point updates.
Structure.
"You've got two points!!!"
Structure:= I don't care. Make a leader board. That shouldn't take more than a minute to create and post. For all I know, darthmunkyhumper is in the lead.
5: Format.
Structure.
This "challenge" lacks format structure, badly.
Structure= This isn't difficult either, just add it. Have a scheduled format to the questions.
1= Name that Boss
2= Name that character
3= Name that sound
4= etc.
Level the playing field. Allow visual and audio learners both the chance to play, at an even amount.
6: Answers
Structure.
Structure= Let them fucking slide for crying out loud. Okay, so I am a little bitter about my answer "Zelda II" not being allowed, then at least 10 minutes pass and the answer "Zelda 2 Adventure of Link" ftw. That is like ignoring an answer of NES because the poster didn't post Nintendo Entertainment System. If the person knows it, they know it, which is another reason there should be a time when questions are asked.
7: Love
Structure:
I applaud the creators of the second Retro Game Challenge. I think it is a great thread that can really rack retro gamers memories. Love the idea as well, just think you guys need to even the playing field.

Re: WHAT IF!

Re: WHAT IF!
What if that new EGM mag i've been waiting for never release?
What if someone makes a 3D Graphics game which required you to wear 3D glasses all the time?
What if Michael Jordan and Gary Payton finally make it to NBA JAM this time?

What if someone makes a 3D Graphics game which required you to wear 3D glasses all the time? it better be a FPS.
What if Michael Jordan and Gary Payton finally make it to NBA JAM this time? MJ would not be the only "AIR" jordan.
