I actually have a Wonderswan - can't read japanese though so I only got Gunpey to play on it.
I'd like to get more games, but to be honest the choice is very limited here in the UK (by ebay). Did you write the article, Racket?
I'd like to get the shooter, but I know already that it would cost a good bunch. Are the other games you recommend in the article relatively easy to get in the US?
The Wonderswan article

Well, when I got mine there wasn't Gunpey anywhere else. I'm not sure I'd recommend it, unless you can read japanese (I can't) - do you have a NGPC? You should get one way before a WSC.

I got an NGPC when it first came out -- loved the little bugger. That's when I was making very frequent trips from East to West Coast -- five hour flights are no fun, and the Gameboy (there was no Advance at this time) did ilttle to alleviate boredom. I'd say its a great purchase, because the system itself exudes personality and has a solid -- albeit small -- library of games. With that said, its hard to go back to the NGPC simply due to the fact that the screen has neither front nor back lighting. If you are playing in bright areas, its not much of a problem -- but in this age, I've been spoiled.
If you do pick up an NGPC, I'd certainly recommend the Puzzle de Pon games and Crush Roller. They often get overlooked.
Meanwhile, I'll probably snag a Wondersawn. Always loved the name of that system, anyway.
