Help finding a certain hard to find wire for PS3?

Yeah, Veno is right...I opened a PS3 for the first time today and it's pretty damn thin. As much as I am a Do-it-myself type of guy, I would probably just order the sensor.

Having a pic of the actual damage would help.

I'd definitely try and fix it myself before actually going out and buying something, but that's just me.

From the sounds of it it just sounds like the wire needs soldering back together, If the wire is a standard copper wire there would be no harm in doing this as long as the two seperate wires didn't touch, hence the insulation. If it was a ribbon cable, especially those tiny flat brown ones you see in consoles/laptops then I wouldn't attempt a fix, only a direct replacement. From the images though, these look like standard 18-20 AWG (American Wire Gauge). If fixing the wire directly won't work, then I would just cut the wire off, and solder a new one to the device. What have you got to lose? Replacements appear readily available, if you can fix it for free, then that's awesome, if it still doesn't work, buy a replacement.

Completely agree with Nitro on this. It's just 2 thin wires so there's nothing complicated about it. As long as the wire has continuity and is not shorting out anywhere, it will work. The wires are thin because the sensor doesn't require very much current (milliamps).
