Re: Turbografx 16 price question
I say get a pc-engine and a Turbo Grafx. Start with the turbo Grafx to see how you like it and test the waters. Then get a PCE duo if you want more or to play the CD games. Its cheaper then buying the american duo or cd plus the US system cards are $100 bucks. The game coverters are more expensive then buying the regions system. Why do those things cost $90 I can get a PC-engine for that and a load of games. When I get my PCE DUO r I will eventually mod it to play Turbo Chips.

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
I recently got my Turbographx-16 for under $30 with a controller, cables, and console. The price of $100 seems expensive unless it comes with games and turbo booster add-on.

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
It is easy to mod a PCE or TG16 to be region free, you don't need to buy an expensive adaptor, if you don't mind a few minutes soldering work and opening your system up. It's only 4 pairs of wires that you swap around to play Japanese games or American games, although if you have a PCE you need to lift one pin off the chip and ground it. (details on my site if you are interested in this mod). You can do this mod virtually for free yourself.

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
You know, after doing some research, two things about one of the Turbografx consoles that I can get seems interesting to me.
One, it has two controllers plugged into it. Everywhere that I look says that you can only plug in one controller unless you use a multi-tap. Two, one of the games it comes with is in a CD case, while the others are loose.
Perhaps its a Turbografx Duo and I just don't know it? I've never really been very educated as far as the Turbografx goes, so I may not have been sure of what I was looking at. If it is a Duo, would it be worth $100 then?

The duo only has one plug also. If a duo and no sound issues yes its worth it. Anyway you could get pictures? If it was modded I would like to see it.jfe2 wrote:You know, after doing some research, two things about one of the Turbografx consoles that I can get seems interesting to me.

Re: Turbografx 16 price question
I was planning on heading up there Friday to possibly pick it up, so I'll go up there and get some pictures for sure, even if I don't buy it.
Perhaps it has the CD add-on? I know for a fact that it has two controllers... Sorry if I am coming off as dumb, I just have never really paid much attention to the Turbografx until I found this site.

If there are 2 controllers plugged in and no tap, it is not a TG/PCE/Duo. Full stop.jfe2 wrote:I was planning on heading up there Friday to possibly pick it up, so I'll go up there and get some pictures for sure, even if I don't buy it.

Heh, yeah I must be crazy, cause I've been doing research and can't find anything that fits the description I am remembering. I'm thinking that it probably has a tap with it or something. I'll get some pictures of it up on Friday for sure, then we'll all know what the hell I'm talking about.Hobie-wan wrote:If there are 2 controllers plugged in and no tap, it is not a TG/PCE/Duo.
