Famous band's humble beginnings

Post by J T »

Somebody mentioned the earlier work of band members in Fallout Boy in the misheard lyrics thread, and I started to think about some of the funnier early beginnings of bands I like. I'm wondering if people have other examples.

Here's a hilarious picture of early Trent Reznor (on the right) in one of his early bands, Option 30, before he became Nine Inch Nails

Also, here's a great video of Maynard James Keenan in the 80s before TOOL became a huge success. This video always makes me laugh. Hair metal bandmate chronies? Check. Black guy playing funk pass seeming totally out of place? Check. Maynard in a unitard doing hip hop? Check!

Anybody got any more?

Semi interesting side story; Maynard went to my college, and was also used as a model by one of the teachers here for a few drawings. Sadly I can't find the one that I'm certain was with him on her website, but it's very similar to this one (nsfw)http://www.debrockman.com/visions/memory.html

Well that ruins the fun  . I did stick a nsfw on there though, I didn't even think that much of it when I posted, kinda desensitized to such stuff at this point.

Haha, I should have thought of that one. Funnily, I like With Sympathy when I'm in a synthpop mood even though he did it in total sellout mode and faking the accent. I'll pick up a CD to replace the tape I bought uninformed years ago if I find it cheap.

I got into Ministry first because of Psalm 69. I was shocked when I heard "With Sympathy." It's a good album, but it sounds like it came from a different band from a different time period.
