What was the last movie you've seen?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

But you liked Xanadu?

I'm just giving you a hard time, but seriously, what did you find to like in that movie? Disco kitsch kept me somewhat entertained for maybe twenty minutes, but then the movie had another two hours to go. IMDB says the whole film is only 93 minutes, but I simply can't believe it. I found roller-disco infinitely more boring than style-over-substance vampire action.
A) I only said Xanadu was "pretty good".

B) The Underworld films are just all style with no real substance whatsoever. The story is pretty generic, the overall set design is your standard gothic BS, and who provided the wardrobe for all the characters, Hot Topic? Now look at Xanadu. It's got style and just enough substance to keep it from being expendable. The set design is bright and vibrant, with color and energy surging from it. It's also got Gene Kelly on roller skates and a '40s-style big band playing in tandem with an '80s rock band.

C) In its genre, Underworld is standard at best, with many better films of its kind out there. But with Xanadu, it's familiar yet unique.

My two cents on the Underworld trilogy: http://www.racketboy.com/forum/viewtopi ... &start=550

REPO Man, do we really need to debate the value of the Underworld films again?

Beetlejuice: I loved this movie beyond reason. The stop motion, costume design, story, and acting were all top notch. I just wish Betelgeuse could have stayed in the living world under some sort of restriction (I think the animated series did something like that).

Anyway, "Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse!"

Evangelion 1.01: YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE

Amazing, freaking amazing.

I know that it's just a retelling of the original first few episodes from the series, but the added changes and new animation was done so well that it felt as if was watching the series for the first time all over again.

I've waited nearly three years to see it and forced myself not to download any rips of it to support the DVD fully when it came out. Next time, I'm going to both buy and torrent it, because I can't wait to see it!

Now for it to come out on DVD in Japan and get ripped.......

The Wonder Woman animated movie. Like most DC projects Bruce Timm is involved in I thought it was pretty awesome. I'm psyched about the Justice League Crisis on Two Earths movie in February

I also caught that last Fantastic Four movie with Silver Surfer on tv. It's was okay, not great, not horrible either. Passable entertainment. I'm not a huge Fantastic Four geek so I don't know how they felt about it. I will say it felt way too Hollywood, with parts handed out simply due to star power and looks rather than who would best fit the part.

It was indeed amazing. I'm curious as to how the ending will differ from all the other endings. I predict something drastically different, but who knows what will happen.

I'm predicting that while it'll be completely different all the way through the ending will be near to or the same as before, but now will be fully explained and include some form of epilogue.

My wife and I have actually and successfully used that film as a sleep aid on more than one occasion.

Here is the dialog from what is easily the best and most memorable scene from the film, though you really have to see it to appreciate it.

General Hagen: No you don't understand. So let me make it clear for you and your pack of freaks here. I'm the quarterback. You're on my team, got it? But I guess you never played football in high school, did you Richards?
Reed Richards: No, you're right, I didn't. I stayed inside and studied, like a good little nerd. And fifteen years later, I'm one of the greatest minds of the 21st century, I'm engaged to the hottest girl on the planet, and the big jock who played quarterback in high school? Well he's standing right in front of me asking me for my help. And I say he's not gonna get a damn thing, unless he does exactly what I tell him, and starts treating my friends and me, with some respect.
[Pause]
General Hagen: Give him what he wants.
[The general storms off]
Susan Storm: I am so hot for you right now.
Johnny Storm: Me too. All right Reed!

The Reed Richards dance scene is pretty awesomely ridiculous as well.
