In my view, many people will often turn to religion in tough times because it is a way to make sense of hard to understand things. The world is against them and putting God at the center is a way to restore order. I've seen that too often, though, this mentality becomes a life crutch. If you go the religious route, don't use it as a way to determine the amount of personal responsibility for your own past and/or as a framework for making all your future decisions. Praying that things will get better won't make them so...

As a religious guy, I agree with this advice. Don't enter into anything major without putting serious thought/research into it; relationships, religions and careers being the big three IMO.

You might be right. I just find it interesting that some people are giving out these long thought out suggestions on how to help the guy, when they know absolutely nothing about him, or his situation. For all we know, the guy could be twelve.
