I wouldn't use the words "360" and "are reliable" in the same sentence.

Look , I am tired of Americans making big fuss about this.
You can get the console for like $200 . If anything goes wrong, send it to Microsoft and they'll fix it within couple of weeks for 3 years.

I live in a place where I will have to pay an extra $60 (at least) for shipping only, and once its RRODs I just have to buy another one, because buying a new one is CHEAPER than shipping it back to Microsoft. If I was in America, I would buy a 360 no worries.

a PS3 is really a better choice as a console at least for reliability and the Bluray player, but if you like the 360, XBL, Halo and Fable then its 360 for you.

To be honest, with the 360 being so cheap, if it does break, you have a 3 year warranty anyway. It's damn site better than the 'fuck you' attitude Sony has towards their early adopters. At least Microsoft admit that there's a problem with these systems and then fixes them.

Sony pretty much tell you to get fucked, and if they don't tell you to get fucked, they won't fix it without the HDD, and you don't even get your own system back. So you are going to lose your trophies no matter what, the trophy sync system is absolute bullshit. It simply doesn't work. At least on the 360 you just recover your gamertag and after 5 minutes, all your achievements and XBLA titles are downloaded and activated for use again.

On the PS3 you have to trawl through your downloads tab in the store and hope (im deadly serious here) that all your downloads turn up. I bought a copy of Crash Bandicoot on my previous PS3 and it's nowhere to be found on my PSN account, at all. I can't redownload it or anything, it's as if I never bought it in the first place. I called Sony customer support and they basically fobbed me off saying that I never bought it, when I told them I'm looking at the game on my old PS3, I even booted it up when they were on the phone and they still would not believe me that I had purchased this title. They're solution: "Buy it again". Like somehow it's my fault that their stupid system failed on me.

See, when my first 360 crapped out, it wasn't covered because it was a faulty drive(a model Microsoft quit using about a month after I bought mine) instead of the RROD. The second 360 I got from a friend, but it RRODed really quick. So I attempted to send it in, talked with Microsoft about it, gave them all the required information, and then never got the shipping info or labels they said they would send me. I did this multiple times, explaining that they never sent me the stuff. They still didn't.

After a couple of months of trying this, I said "Fuck it," got the tools to open them myself, and switched out the drives as necessary. To prevent my newly frankensteined 360 from screwing up, I even upgraded the fans. It RRODed on me a few months later. I don't have the money to buy a new one, I can't send in the old one since it's been opened, and I frankly don't care.

I thought that was covered by a seperate warranty, due to the class action lawsuit that was filed against MS from users with scratched discs due to the disc drive. Or was that not the problem?

I'd try and fine somewhere that does good console repairs with a BGA workstation and ask them to rework the BGAs on the CPU/GPU. There's quite a few places dotted around the UK that do this kind of fix for £50. Which is definitely cheaper than buying a new 360. I'm sure there must be something like this in the US.

Nah, I don't remember what the problem was, but I don't believe I had the issue that those other folks were having. I've bought most of the stuff to fix it myself, but after getting half way through the process, I discovered I was missing one tool and set the project aside. I just haven't been able to force myself back to it.
