Hmm, the only MGS game I played was MGS2 and I loved it. I really had a fun time playing that game, especially running around and collecting all the dogtags from the guards. But then later I tried to play MGS1 and I couldn't get into it. I only tried to play it while on a car-trip and not for very long, but it didn't grab me right away. If I ever have time I may have to try it again. I just find it interesting how MGS2 is cited as the weaker game in the series.

Played and loved every MGS since MG1 on MSX. The only belated playthrough was that of MGS1, and it is indeed dated. I'm just glad the next MGS is going multiplat. Hideo Kojima should return to making cyberpunk games though, since no one does it better (except Warren Spector of course)..
