What moral lesson?
If you shoot people, what happens? You get killed at the end.
If you don't shoot people, what happens? You get killed at the end.
There was no moral lesson here, and if one was intended, then it was very poorly followed through.
If you shoot people, they get killed.
If you don't shoot people, they live.
There's your moral lesson. Sounds like you could learn a thing or two about selfishness while we're at it. Even if you are doomed to be killed in the end, your actions will make a huge difference on the lives of many innocent people.

I'm sorry, am I suppose to feel disturbed about this, seriously I don't give a fuck, no offense to anyone that lost someone, but I got over the whole 9/11 thing years ago (like 5 months later), I do not grief about it, I just move on with my every day life, I don't feel bad for the ones that died, I am sorry but people got to realize that death is just part of life and we all have to go through with it whether you like it or not, I never let anyones death in my life drag me down, sure I love that someone with all my heart, but I least I know that person. I know nobody that died at 9/11, so in other words, I don't care about the ones that died on that faithful day. I mean what if someone died of cancer in Germany, just an everyday nobody just suddenly died, you have not herd of that guy until you looked it up, would you care? no, I don't know who that guy is, nor do I care about him. Now some of you may be saying "do you care about anyone other than yourself, you selfish heartless bastard", the answer is yes, my family is top of my list, I love my family more than anything in the world, I would never trade anything for them, second, is my friends, I love my friends but a step below from my family, main reason why is because certain friends comes and go, but there are handful of people that are close enough to be part of the family, like certain people do get in a personal level. The only thing that comes between my family and my friends are my pets, I like my pets more than my friends because you can say the most personal things and they don't talk back, they won't talk shit about you, they will love you no matter what.
So lets recap, in a nutshell, if you are not in my family or my friend, I will not give half a shit about you. Oh and one more thing, Its just a fucking game, nobodies forcing you to play it.
ok, I can't to see how many people I pissed off after this.

No, they don't live. If you don't shoot people, they get killed by your partners.
What's more, why should I feel for any of these NPCs? Did you feel for any of the wooden targets you shot in Spec Ops? Did you feel for any of the masses of civies you killed in any given open-world game? Do you feel for any of the millions of people you've slaughtered who happened to have weapons?
I just don't see what is so totally different here. When people are encouraged to not kill defenseless people, they seem to take sick pleasure out of killing them. When people are encouraged, they're like "This is wrong!" So, killing all those scientists in Half-Life was right, then?

You are right. It's not real so who give a fuck? A game or movie can have the most horrible acts of violence but it's not real and no one is truly getting hurt so we shouldn't get upset. If you aren't strong enough to handle fake computer characters dying on a TV screen, stop playing the game and let others play it if they want to. This entire discussion shouldn't even exist. Everyone needs to open their eyes and understand that we are arguing over fake video game characters who were never "alive" in the first place.
I just drew a picture of the planet Earth exploding and causing a massive black hole that erased the entire universe, killing everything in existence. Just imagine all of the fake people and animals and alien babies with broccoli for hands (very bright green colored broccoli, different from our planet's shade of green) that were killed. So horrible... Let's ban everything so no more fake people are harmed.

You sure to have a taste of the overtly melodramatic. I'm not even sure what point exactly you are trying to get across here.
You know what makes a line of code more than just a line of code?
Character development. The civilians you killed in MW2? Just lines of code. They had absolutely no character development. I had no opportunity to get to know any of them.
Sorry that I can't feel sorry for model files - maybe if I was given any reason to give a shit about them, I would have seen them as more than model files.
People are taking this game way overboard with this shit. There are SO many worse games out there, and games that were REALLY bad for their own time.
Lets go back to postal 2...a game that came out around that entire anthrax thing...well...does anyone remember the anthrax filled cows head? You throw it out, shoot it, and everyone around it starts to puke blood and runs screaming until they fall to the ground twitching before they die from anthrax.
These are GAMES, not real life. Hey...I think its fucked up to see a guy playing jesus get his ass kicked for 3 hours...and I dont even fallow the religion...but I will be damned if a movie wasnt put out about it.
If you dont like it, dont play the game, but I promise you...you will NOT hurt their sales ONE fucking bit lmao. As I say that...I am going back to beat the game AGAIN just for the fact of enjoying the plot and story.
I always thought the game was just overhyped. I played MW1 and COD5 at friend's house and just thought they were solid, nothing special. But that scene right there looks awesome... not commenting on the gore and violence but the details and everything look so nice. I must play this...
On topic, I think this scene is ok. I see why people can be offended and it's true this might cause some children to act badly when they grow up after playing that. But that's just not significant enough for this scene to be censored or cut.
I just got the game (3 years late to the party, I know), and here's my opinion of the No Russian level. If got people's attention enough to spawn an eight-page thread, on a retro gaming forum no less, then I'd say IW succeeded. Publicity is good, even bad publicity.
Also, it couldn't have offended anyone too deeply since I haven't heard anyone discuss this level since Black Ops came out.
